INSTALLATION 1. For 2006 and later FLHT/I/C/CI/CUI, and ALL FLTR models: a. Follow the instructions in the Owner’s Manual to remove the left-side and right-side saddlebags b. Remove the bolts and flat washers to remove the passenger grab strap and saddlebag front mounting brackets from the chrome frame tube covers. c. Remove the passenger grab strap. 2. ALL models: Follow the instructions in the Owner’s Manual to remove the seat. To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect negative (-) battery cable before proceeding. (00048a) 3. Installation GENERAL The original equipment (stock) fender tip lamp assemblies must be removed and the wire(s) must be unplugged or removed as specified in the following instructions. FRONT FENDER TIP REMOVAL OF STOCK FRONT FENDER TIP LAMP ON 1994 AND LATER FLT MODELS 1. Refer to the applicable FLT Service Manual. Remove headlamp assembly with housing. 2. Locate the 3-place connector [32 in wiring diagram] through which 12vdc and electrical ground are connected to the fender tip lamp assembly. The connector locations are as follows: FLTC Ultra: Under fuse and circuit breaker block FLHT/C/C-U: On bottom of left outer fairing bracket FLHR: On left front above air suspension valve NOTE Before disassembling the connector in the next step, refer to the applicable wiring diagram and check wire colors and connections to assure that connector [32] has been located. 3. Refer to the “DEUTSCH ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR” section in the FLT Service Manual and remove the leads, connected to the fender tip lamp, from the socket half, connector [32B]. 4. Insert a small screwdriver blade in rectangular slot at top center of fender tip lamp lens and gently pry lens from lamp. 5. Remove two screws and nuts that fasten fender tip lamp assembly to front fender. Gently remove the lamp assembly taking care not to damage wires connected to lamp assembly. 6. Reach under left side of fender and gently pull wires through rear hole in left side of fender and then through clips on left side of fender and finally through front hole and out of trim strip. REMOVAL OF STOCK FRONT FENDER TIP LAMP ON 1993 AND EARLIER FLT MODELS, FLSTC AND FLSTN 1. Insert a small screwdriver blade in rectangular slot at top center of fender tip lamp lens and gently pry lens from lamp. 2. Remove two screws and nuts that fasten fender tip lamp assembly to front fender. Gently remove the lamp assembly taking care not to damage wire connected to lamp assembly. 3. Unplug wire connector located about 3 in. from lamp assembly. Cover the socket half of connector (connected to motorcycle wiring) with electrical tape. INSTALLING FRONT FENDER TIP TRIM FROM KIT-ALL MODELS 1. Position fender tip trim over holes in fender and guide outer ends of fender tip trim into trim strips on sides of fender. 2. Insert studs on fender tip trim through holes in fender and secure with locknuts included in kit. Tighten locknuts to 6 in-lbs . REAR FENDER TIP REMOVAL OF STOCK REAR FENDER TIP LAMP ON ALL MODELS Follow steps 1 through 3 given above for “1993 AND EARLIER FLT MODELS, FLSTC & FLSTN” INSTALLING REAR FENDER TIP TRIM FROM KIT-ALL MODELS 1. Position fender tip trim over holes in rear fender. 2. Insert studs on fender tip trim through holes in fender and secure with locknuts included in kit. Tighten locknuts to 6 in-lbs

These Stamped Backrest kits are designed for installation on all vehicles with Mini and Short sissy bar uprights. Kit Number 52527-01 is only for models equipped with a Mini sissy bar upright. Kit Number 52531-01 is only for models equipped with a Short sissy bar upright. See Service Parts illustration for kit contents. Installation 1. Remove stock chrome backrest bracket. Discard hardware. 2 Install backing plate (2) with 1/4 inch x .50 long screws (4) supplied with kit through mounting bracket and into backrest. Tighten screws to 7 ft-lbs (9.5 Nm). 3. Position stamped cover (1) so tabs and cover are slightly below notches in backing plate. Slide stamped cover (1) into position by sliding upwards until cover locks in position. 4. Install two #8 screws (3) through bottom of stamped cover (1) and then into backing plate (2). Tighten screws to 18-24 in-lbs (2.0 to 2.7 Nm)

PREPARATION NOTE For vehicles equipped with security siren: • Verify that the Hands-Free Fob is present. • Turn the ignition key switch to IGNITION. To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, remove main fuse before proceeding. (00251b) 1. Refer to the owner’s manual and follow the instructions to remove the main fuse. INSTALLATION NOTE The Tour-Pak does not need to be removed from the vehicle to perform this installation. 1. Open the Tour-Pak lid and remove all items from the Tour- Pak base. 2. Models equipped with mat: Remove the mat. Models equipped with liner: Open the map pocket, and remove the acorn nuts with flat washers. Remove the map pocket and liner. 3. Remove four screws from the left-side speaker grille on the Tour-Pak. Remove the speaker grille from the speaker pod. 4. Remove the speaker from the speaker pod. Carefully pull the two socket terminals from the speaker spade contacts. 5. Remove the grommet, and draw the rear speaker/passenger controls connector out of the speaker pod. Separate the connector halves. 6. Repeat Steps 3 through 5 for the right-side speaker. 7. See Figure 1. Get the drill template (3) from the kit. If NOT equipped with power port: a. Remove one speaker pod mounting screw and flat washer. b. Align the drill template on the inside of the Tour-Pak with the speaker pod holes, and hold in place with the mounting screw and washer. c. Repeat for the remaining template mounting holes. If equipped with power port: a. Remove the two screws and flat washers to free the power port from the Tour-Pak. b. Align the drill template on the inside of the Tour-Pak with the power port holes, and hold in place with the mounting screws and washers. c. Repeat with the top speaker pod mounting screw and flat washer. NOTE Tighten the screws enough to hold the speaker pod in place as the pilot hole is drilled. 8. Where indicated on the template, drill a 3/16 inch (5 mm) diameter pilot hole through the Tour-Pak wall and speaker pod. 9. Remove the screws and speaker pod, and set aside. Turn the template over, and repeat Steps 7 and 8 on the left side of the Tour-Pak. NOTE Hole size will affect the fitment of the ports. The hole saw needs to be sharp. 10. Carefully drill a two inch (51 mm) diameter hole with a sharp hole saw, at the pilot location, through each speaker pod and in both locations on the Tour-Pak wall. 11. Temporarily install the Tour-Pak liner (if equipped), and mark the location of the two inch (51 mm) diameter holes on the outside of the liner. Remove the liner, and carefully cut the two holes in the liner front wall

Additional Parts Required 1998 through 2008 models require use of the original equipment (OE) load coil. 2009 and later models DO NOT require use of a load coil. Kit Contents There are no service parts available with this kit. INSTALLATION 1. 2008 and earlier models: Use a 2 mm hex key to loosen the bottom set screw of the antenna mast. ALL models: Unscrew the antenna mast from the antenna base. 2. Thread the new antenna mast onto the threads of the antenna base. IN SERVICE 2008 and earlier models: If a degradation of CB performance is detected: 1. Open the Tour-Pak. 2. Open the map pocket (if present), and remove the acorn nuts with flat washers. Remove the map pocket and molded liner from the Tour-Pak. 3. Check the routing of the load coil wiring (see Figure 2). Wire routing other than as shown can cause a degradation of the CB signal

Center fender hole Figure 1. Retention Nut and Plastic Cap Location 2. For models that had a solo seat: Proceed to Step 3. For models that had a 2-up seat: The retention nut and washer must be moved from the rearward mounting hole to the center fender hole where the rear seat bracket will be attached. Use a cable strap to aid in this step as fol- lows: a. See Figure 1. Remove retention nut from rearward fender hole (3) and plastic cap (2) from center fender hole (4). b. Install plastic cap into the rearward fender hole. c. See Figure 2. Place the retention nut over the cable strap so the wide end of the nut rests on the eye of the cable strap. Thread the cable strap up under the fender and through the center fender hole. Pull up on the cable strap to hold the nut snug against the underside of the fender. d. With the rib of the retention nut seated into the notch in the fender hole, slide the retention washer into place from the rear. This will lock the retention nut in place. 3. Position the solo seat on the motorcycle frame with the mounting bracket at the rear. Bring the seat forward and engage the tab on the seat into the slot at the base of the fuel tank. 4. See Figure 3. Secure the seat to the fender using the knurled knob (3) and neoprene washer (4) from the kit. Install the washer on the knob and tighten the knob securely to the fender seat nut

INSTALLATION (2000 THROUGH 2002) Refer to the instructions included with kit 53388-03 for installation on 2000 through 2002 models. INSTALLATION (2003 AND LATER) NOTE To keep the fender aligned, completely install the sideplate on one side of the motorcycle before proceeding to the second side. The sissy bar should be installed last. 1. For models equipped with saddlebags: a. Remove the saddlebag, and retain the mounting hardware for later reinstallation. b. See Figure 1. Remove the bolt (A) and washer (4) that secures the rear fender to the fender brace. Discard the bolt and washer. Remove and retain the two saddlebag mounting studs (C) and nut plate (D) for later use. For models NOT equipped with saddlebags: a. See Figure 1. Remove the two rearmost bolts (A), washers (4) and nut plate that secure the rear fender to the fender brace. Discard the bolts and washers. b. Remove the bolt (B) and washer (4) that secure the fender and brace to the frame. Discard the bolt and washer. 2. See Figure 1. Position the correct sideplate to the outside of the fender brace. 3. With saddlebags: Apply LOCTITE 243 (blue) to the 3/8- 16 threads of the saddlebag mounting studs (C) and reinstall the studs through the sideplate, fender brace, frame and fender, and thread into the stock nut plates (D). Install one chrome 3/8-16 screw (3) and chrome washer (4) from the kit through the rear hole in the sideplate, fender brace and fender, and thread into the stock nut plate (D). Without saddlebags: Install three chrome 3/8-16 screws (3) and chrome washers (4) from the kit through the holes in the side plate, fender brace and fender, and thread into the stock nut plates (D). 4. Repeat steps 1-3 for the opposite side. 5. Install a sissy bar (not included in the kit) into the side- plates. Apply LOCTITE 262 (red) to the threads of the chrome 1/4-20 capscrews (5) and insert them into the sideplate holes. Tighten to 8-10 ft-lbs (11-14 Nm) . 6. Tighten the bolts (3) and/or saddlebag mounting studs to 21-27 ft-lbs (28.5-36.6 Nm) . 7. Reinstall the saddlebags

REMOVAL See the service manual for removal procedures. INSTALLATION See the service manual and follow the wiring procedures. NOTE For Non-FXDF Models Only: See Figure 1. Cut the mesh tubing from the kit into two equal length pieces. Slide the switch wire bundles through mesh conduit. Position conduit into switch control housing. Tie each end of conduit with cable tie from kit. Handlebar Installation See the service manual and follow the installation procedures. SAFETY CHECK Be sure that steering is smooth and free without interference. Interference with steering could result in loss of vehicle control and death or serious injury. (00371a) •Be sure wires, clutch cables, throttle/idle cables and brake lines do not pull tight when handlebars are turned fully to left or right fork stops. 1. Verify that the ignition/light key switch is turned to the OFF position. Install the main fuse. Be sure that all lights and switches operate properly before operating motorcycle. Low visibility of rider can result in death or serious injury. (00316a) 2. Turn the ignition/light key switch to IGNITION, but do not start the engine. Test each handlebar switch for proper operation. Before starting engine, be sure thr ottle control will snap back to idle position when released. Removal of Stock Seat 1. Remove screw (6) to detach rear seat mounting bracket (9) from fender. 1996 models will have a nylon washer under the bracket that should also be saved for installation of new seat. 2. Slide seat rearward to unhook front of seat from frame, then pull seat forward out of passenger strap. 3. Remove two capscrews (10) that attach seat mounting bracket to bottom of stock seat. Install original seat mounting bracket to bottom of new solo saddle with original capscrews. Tighten capscrews securely. 4. Remove nut (7) and washer (8) that hold passenger strap (11) in place and remove strap. Installation of Kit Seat This seat is for solo driver use only. Do not attempt to carry a passenger with this solo seat installed. Use of a luggage rack, fender, or tail section as an additional seat may result in death or serious injury. NOTE When a solo seat is installed without a passenger seat, the passenger footpegs or footboards and the passenger grabstrap must be removed. For 1996 models: 1. Slide seat into position until front seat tab engages frame, then place original nylon washer under hole in rear seat mounting bracket and secure bracket to fender with screw (6). NOTE For 1997 models, a retention nut and washer must be installed into the fender hole, covered with a plastic cap, where the rear seat bracket will be attached. A cable strap is included to aid in this installation. For 1997 models: 1. Remove plastic cap from hole in fender where the rear seat bracket will be attached. 2. Place retention nut (3) over cable strap (2) so wide end of nut rests on eye of cable strap. Thread cable strap up under fender and through fender hole. Pull up on cable strap to hold nut snug against underside of fender. 3. With rib on retention nut seated into notch in fender hole, slide retention washer (4) into place from the rear. This will lock the retention nut in place. 4. Slide seat into position until front seat tab engages frame, then secure rear seat bracket to fender with screw (6). Install chrome cap (5) in rear retention nut
