INSTALLATION 1. Remove fasteners from stock fender skirt. NOTE Some early models have rivets for fasteners. These rivets will need to be drilled out. Drill the rivet heads to a sufficient depth to remove the head from the rivet shaft. Do not attempt to drill the rivet all the way through. This may scratch the fender?s painted surface. 2. Remove stock fender skirt. 3. Thoroughly clean the fender under the skirt. At this point it may be a good idea to wax this portion of the fender to prevent rust in the future. 4. See Figure 1. Cut the adhesive foam strip (5) into three equal parts. Remove the backing from the adhesive strips and apply adhesive on middle and two sides at the inside/bottom of the fender skirt (1). The foam strips will prevent rattling and unwanted noise. NOTE On some later FLT models, there may not be enough fender skirt support to allow the application of adhesive strips. If this is true for your motorcycle, you may install this kit without the adhesive strips. 5. Place the fender skirt in position, aligning fastener holes. 6. INSTALLATION 1. Install the grab strap (4) with the seat mounting studs (A) through the inner grab strap holes (F). 2. Refer to solo seat instruction sheet for installation of rider seat (C) and backrest (D). 3. Install the mounting nuts (E). 4. Tighten nuts snugly. 5. Slide slots on leading edge of passenger pillion (1) onto seat mounting studs (A) while sliding the pillion through the grab strap. 6. Install mounting screw (B) from stock seat through the mounting tab and tighten to 36-60 in-lbs (4-7 Nm) . After installing seat, pull upward on seat to be sure it is locked in position. While riding, a loose seat can shift causing loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00070b) 7. Pull on seat and pillion to verify they are securely installed. REMOVAL All Models 1. If equipped with saddlebags, removal may ease installation. Follow the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual or Instruction Sheet. 2. See Figure 1. Remove and discard the forwardmost fender support bolt (1). Repeat for the other side. 3. See Figure 2. On the left side, remove the footrest support mounting bolt (1) and footrest support bracket assembly (2). Discard the mounting bolt. 2005 – 2006 Models 1. Loosen the exhaust shields as necessary following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. Move as necessary for access. 2. Loosen the exhaust header nuts following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. 3. See Figure 3. Remove bolt (1) connecting the exhaust system (2) to the support bracket (3). 4. See Figure 4. Remove the two rear muffler bracket bolts (1). 5. See Figure 5. Move mufflers enough to access the rear bolt attaching the exhaust mounting bracket to the frame. Remove bolt (1) and discard. 2007 – Later Models NOTE On 2007 – later models, the frame tab (4) has a plug instead of a bolt (see Figure 6, item 1). 1. Remove plug and discard. 1 is05313 1. Footrest Support Bracket Assembl NSTALLATION Right Side See Figure 5 or Figure 6. 1. See Figure 7. Install upper screw (7) in the fender support. Tighten screw finger-tight. 2. Install the lower screw (4 or 5) with the saddlebag guard, washer (9) and locknut (6) inside the frame. Tighten screw finger-tight. 3. Tighten the upper screw to 30 ft-lbs (41 Nm) . 4. Tighten the lower screw to 40 ft-lbs (54 Nm) . Tighten nut to 30 ft-lbs (41 Nm) . 5. 2005 – 2006 Models: a. Loosely install the exhaust header bolts. b. See Figure 4. Loosely install two rear muffler bracket bolts (1). c. See Figure 3. Loosely install bolt securing exhaust system (2) to support bracket (3). d. Tighten exhaust header bolts following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. e. Tighten support bracket bolt and rear muffler bracket bolts following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. f. Tighten exhaust shields following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. 6. Loosely install upper screw (7) through the saddlebag guard and the fender support. NOTE Spacer (8) must be installed with the chamfer facing out. 2. See Figure 7. For 2005-2006 Models: Install lower screw (3) through the saddlebag guard, saddlebag guard spacer (8), footpeg support and the frame. Tighten to 30 ft-lbs (41 Nm) . For 2007 and later Models: Install lower screw (10) through the saddlebag guard, footpeg support and the frame. Tighten to 30 ft-lbs (41 Nm) . 3. Tighten upper screw to 30 ft-lbs (41 Nm)

REMOVAL NOTE Refer to owner’s manual or service manual for seat removal instructions for your model. 1. Remove right and left saddlebags according to the instructions in the service manual. Save saddlebag mounting brackets and hardware. 2. Remove passenger seat strap. Discard passenger seat strap. 3. Remove existing seat from vehicle. 4. See Figure 1. Remove and discard stock nuts (2) from studs (1) on rear fender (3). INSTALLATION Install Rider Seat 1. Push front seat on frame with mounting bracket at rear. 2. Firmly push front of seat downward and rearward until frame tongue engages slot in seat. 3. Push seat forward until studs are centered in slots of mounting bracket. 4. See Figure 4. Install two nuts (4) on studs to secure rear seat mounting bracket to rear fender. Alternately tighten nuts to 60-96 in-lbs (6.8-10.9 Nm). 5. If installing a new passenger seat, refer to the instructions included with the kit. After installing seat, pull upward on seat to be sure it is locked in position. While riding, a loose seat can shift causing loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00070b) 6. If installing passenger seat, install passenger seat strap following the instructions in the service manual. 7. Slide the backrest shaft (2) through the flaps and into the receptacle in the seat. 2. While pushing down on the backrest assembly, twist the backrest counterclockwise until the shaft hits the stop. 3. Verify that the backrest assembly is locked in place by pulling up in the backrest pad

Installation 1. See Figure 1. Remove two stock screws and nuts from one side of the saddlebag rail assembly. 2. See the Service Parts illustration. Insert two screws (3) through the screw holes from the opposite direction as the stock screws removed from the rail bracket in Step 1. 3. Place a spacer (2) on the outboard screw. 4. Place a Saddlebag Rail Bracket over the rail assembly. Position the bracket with the square notch on the inboard side of the rail assembly. 5. Fasten the screws from step 2 into the Saddlebag Rail Bracket. Torque the fasteners to 10 ft-lbs (13.5 Nm). 6. Repeat steps 1 – 5 for the saddlebag rail assembly on the other side of the motorcycle
