Installation When performing the following procedures, be careful not to scratch painted surfaces (fender, tank, etc.) with metal tabs on seat. 1. Remove existing seat strap from motorcycle. Retain all hardware. Discard seat strap. 2. Remove existing seat from motorcycle by removing Phillips head screw with lockwasher, and nylon washer from rear fender mounting bracket. Retain all hardware except discard nylon washer. 3. Disengage seat from frame tab at front of seat. 4. Install new seat onto motorcycle, making sure bracket on front of seat fully engages into seat mounting tab on frame. NOTE On rear fenders of 1997-1999 models, a captive nut secured with a plastic retention washer has replaced the previously used weld nut. Do not remove the plastic retention washer unless the captive nut is damaged and must be replaced. The plastic retention washer also prevents seat bracket from contacting paint on fender. Therefore, no nylon washer is required between bracket and fender on 1997-1999 models. 5. On pre- 1997 models , secure seat onto rear fender with original screw and lockwasher and place guide washer (1) between seat bracket and rear fender. 5a. On 1997-1999 models , secure seat onto rear fender with original screw and lockwasher. After installing seat, pull upward on front of seat to be sure it is locked in position. If seat is loose, it could shift during vehicle operation, resulting in loss of control of vehicle and death or serious injury. 6. Use original hardware to install new seat strap (2) in same location as old seat strap. On FXSTC, Softail Custom models, fasten seat strap to fender support

INSTALLATION 1. Remove and discard the original voltage regulator mounting screws. 2. See Figure 1. Place a chrome washer (4) onto each of the button head screws (5) from the kit. Insert the screws into the mounting holes in the new voltage regulator cover (1). Place first a spacer (2), then a Nylon washer (3) over the screw threads on the inside of the cover. 3. PREPARE THE MOTORCYCLE 1. For models equipped with saddlebags: Remove the saddlebags following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. 2. Remove the seat following the directions in the Owner’s Manual. To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect negative (-) battery cable before proceeding. (00048a) 3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 4. Secure motorcycle in upright position. NOTE This kit is not compatible with engine guards. 5. If the engine guard is present, remove and discard it. For HDI Vehicles: Remove the left side foot control support, and jiffy stand sensor, jiffy stand and spring, shifter linkage, shift lever and footpeg following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. For all other models: Remove the left side foot control support, jiffy stand and spring, shifter linkage, shift lever and footpeg following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. NOTE Two bearing sleeves will remain inside the footrest bracket. The extended controls bracket from the kit will include two sleeves pressed into the bore of the shift lever arm support. 2. Remove rod ends and jam nuts from the shifter rod. Save the rod ends and jam nuts for installation. Component Installation 1. See Figure 9. Select shifter mounting assembly (6), O- rings (5), nylon washer (4) and the shift rod (1) from the kit. 2. Install the shift arm and new O-rings in the bracket. 3. Apply LOCTITE 243 Threadlocker and Sealant to the three mounting screws and mount the shifter bracket with shift arm to the frame. Tighten the mounting screws to 25-30 ft-lbs (33.9-40.7 Nm)

INSTALLATION 1. If saddlebag rails have not yet been installed: Perform the Air Wing Saddlebag Rail installation up to the point of final assembly of the rails to the saddlebag lids. If saddlebag rails are already installed: Open one saddlebag and remove all loose contents. Remove one saddlebag from the vehicle per service manual instructions. From the underside of the saddlebag lid, remove the fasteners retaining the saddlebag rail to the lid. Note fastener position and save all components for installation. 2. ALL installations: See Figure 3. Obtain a saddlebag rail light assembly (1) from the kit. 3. Insert the light wires through the hole (B) in the side of the saddlebag rail (A) mounting post, and out through the bottom of the post. 4. Install the light to the underside of the saddlebag rail rear cross bar with two screws (4) from the kit. Tighten the screws >securely. 5. Insert the light wires through the left rear saddlebag rail mounting pad (C) and the left rear hole (H) in the saddlebag lid (G). Assemble the saddlebag rail to the lid per the instructions in the Air Wing Saddlebag Rail Kit, feeding the wires through the left rear saddlebag rail nylon washer (D), plain washer (E) and the hex head hollow screw (F). Tighten the two Phillips head screws to 27-31 in-lbs (3.1- 3.5 Nm) . Tighten the hex head hollow screw to 30-50 in- lbs (3.4-5.6 Nm) .

Removal of Stock Seat 1. Remove screw (6) to detach rear seat mounting bracket (9) from fender. 1996 models will have a nylon washer under the bracket that should also be saved for installation of new seat. 2. Slide seat rearward to unhook front of seat from frame, then pull seat forward out of passenger strap. 3. Remove two capscrews (10) that attach seat mounting bracket to bottom of stock seat. Install original seat mounting bracket to bottom of new solo saddle with original capscrews. Tighten capscrews securely. 4. Remove nut (7) and washer (8) that hold passenger strap (11) in place and remove strap. Installation of Kit Seat This seat is for solo driver use only. Do not attempt to carry a passenger with this solo seat installed. Use of a luggage rack, fender, or tail section as an additional seat may result in death or serious injury. NOTE When a solo seat is installed without a passenger seat, the passenger footpegs or footboards and the passenger grabstrap must be removed. For 1996 models: 1. Slide seat into position until front seat tab engages frame, then place original nylon washer under hole in rear seat mounting bracket and secure bracket to fender with screw (6). NOTE For 1997 models, a retention nut and washer must be installed into the fender hole, covered with a plastic cap, where the rear seat bracket will be attached. A cable strap is included to aid in this installation. For 1997 models: 1. Remove plastic cap from hole in fender where the rear seat bracket will be attached. 2. Place retention nut (3) over cable strap (2) so wide end of nut rests on eye of cable strap. Thread cable strap up under fender and through fender hole. Pull up on cable strap to hold nut snug against underside of fender. 3. With rib on retention nut seated into notch in fender hole, slide retention washer (4) into place from the rear. This will lock the retention nut in place. 4. Slide seat into position until front seat tab engages frame, then secure rear seat bracket to fender with screw (6). Install chrome cap (5) in rear retention nut

Install new grab strap onto motorcycle at same location old grab strap was removed (re-use existing hardware). 4. On all models, except FXDWG , install existing stock rear bracket onto seat using stock hardware. On FXDWG models, install the new rear bracket, 52152- 97 onto the seat using the stock hardware. 5. Position new seat on motorcycle. Be sure bracket on front of seat fully engages seat mounting tab on frame. NOTE On rear fenders of 1997 -2003 models, a captive nut secured with a plastic retention washer has replaced the previously used weld nut. Kits 52981-98A and 51102-01A fit 1997 and later FLHR and 1998 and later FLHRCI model motorcycles. Kits 52059-97A and 52918-98A are designed for installation on 1997 and later FLHR and 1997 and later FLHT motorcycles with trim piece kit number 52447-96 installed. Kit 52934-98A fits 1997 and later FLHR, and FLHRCI motorcycles. This kit also fits 1997 and later FLHT and 1998 FLTR when installed with trim piece kit number 52447-96. See Service Parts illustration for kit contents. Installation When performing the following installation procedures, be cautious not to scratch painted surfaces (fender, tank, etc.) with metal seat tabs or tools. 1. Remove left saddlebag from motorcycle. Save all hardware for reinstallation. Remove existing grab strap from left side of vehicle by removing bolt and forward saddlebag mounting bracket. Note the mounting orientation of the grab strap, saddlebag mounting bracket and hardware for installation of the new grab strap. 2. Secure new grab strap to left side of vehicle by reassembling forward saddlebag mounting bracket and bolt to vehicle in same orientation as they were removed. Tighten bolt enough to hold assembly in place. 3. Remove screw (with lockwasher) and nylon flat washer from rear of passenger pillion. Pull pillion rearward to remove pillion from motorcycle. Retain screw (with lockwasher) and nylon washer. 4. Remove rear bracket from pillion by removing two bolts. Install rear bracket with bolts on new seat. 5. Remove seat mounting studs securing rider seat to fender. Remove seat from motorcycle. 6. Install new seat making certain that bracket on front of seat fully engages into seat mounting tab on frame. 7. Secure seat onto rear fender using nylon washer and screw (with lockwasher) removed in step 3. After installing seat, pull upward on front of seat to be sure it is in locked position. While riding, a loose seat can shift causing loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00070a) 8. Remove right saddlebag from motorcycle. Save all hardware for reinstallation. Remove existing grab strap from right side of vehicle by removing bolt and forward saddlebag mounting bracket. Note the mounting orientation of the grab strap, saddlebag mounting bracket and hardware for installation of the new grab strap

This kit is designed for installation on 1982 and later FXR model vehicles.installation 1 CAUTION When performing the following procedures, be cautious not to scratch painted surfaces (fender, tank, etc.) with metal tabs on seat. 1. Remove existing seat from motorcycle. Discard rear mounting hardware (screw, lockwasher and nylon washer). 2. Remove grab strap from vehicle and discard. 3. Locate seat bracket from kit. Remove two mounting screws securing rear portion of tank to motorcycle frame. Discard screw, but save washers. 4. Install seat bracket from kit onto motorcycle at tank mounting tab location, using two hex cap screws from kit and washers removed in Step 3. 5. See Figure 1. Locate grab strap (1) from kit. Bring the two ends of grab strap (1) around the top and outside of frame (2) so that end of grab strap can be joined under seat. 6. See Figure 1. Line up two holes on one end of grab strap with two hole in opposite end of grab strap. Place one metal washer (3) from kit over end of flange screw (4) from kit. Insert screw (4) through one set of holes in grab strap (1). Place one remaining metal washer (3) over end of flange screw (4). Tighten assembly together using locknut (5) from kit. 7. Locate battery mounting tab (6) on motorcycle. Loosen locknut (7) and back out hex head screw (8) from frame until remaining joined holes in grab strap (1) can be slipped into position over end of screw (8). Re-tighten screw (8) and locknut (7). 8. Carefully slip seat into position (without scratching tank or fender) under grab strap and engage mounting tab on front of seat with mounting bracket installed at tank mounting tab. 9. Secure rear of seat using truss head screw with lockwasher and guide washer (placed between seat bracket and fender) from kit. The guide washer will center the screw in the seat bracket hole and serve as a washer to protect the fender

1. Cover gas tank and front fender with towels to avoid damage during installation. 2. Install the two mounting plates onto the windshield, using the bottom and third bolt up. Leave the nylon washers off. The small tab goes to the bottom, big one at the top. (see Figure 1) Tabs face out away from the headlight when installed correctly. 3. Remove the headlight lens and chrome Turn Signal Bar cover and set them in a safe place. (see figure 2) 4. Remove the (3) socket head cap screws that hold the Headlight housing and let it rest carefully so that it does not fall. 5. Remove the turn signal bar by extracting the two socket head cap screws and let it dangle. (see figure 2) 6. Loosely install the throttle-side Bracket and Headlight using one of the (3) new longer 6mm x 30mm socket head cap screws. The nylon washer goes in between Headlight Housing and Headlight Bracket. (see figure 3) Install one of the (2) new 8mm x 45mm SS flat head screw and spacer in the lower hole to mount the turn signal bar. Insert the bolt in this order: bolt – windshield bracket – spacer – turn signal bar, and loosely tighten . (see Figure 3) Repeat these steps for the Clutch side. (See figure 4 for optional Cobra Light Bar installation, or to move Turn Signals forward to mount Lowers closer to the windshield.) 7. Once both windshield brackets are in place and all the new bolts are in place, Tighten all bolts. Re-install the chrome Turn Signal Bar cover. (Leave the chrome cover off if you use the alternate installation for Light Bar or Lowers). Re-Install the Headlight lens. 8. Loosen the (4) anchor bolts on the side of the windshield brackets. Slip the windshield mounting plates onto the brackets starting with the upper slot first then slip the bottom slot in. Adjust height, angle and tighten all bolts. This is a quick change kit. ALWAYS tighten all mounting bolts after removing or installing the windshield

WHEN MOUNTING OBERON TURN SIGNALS TO THE FRONT FAIRING LOCATION YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE THE CLIP # 13 AS SHOWN IN THE DRAW- ING. DISCONNECT PIGTAIL CONNECTORS FROM TURN SIGNAL AND THEN REMOVE NUT, LOCK WASHER AND ONE OF THE LARGE NYLON WASHERS. LEAVE THE OTHER LARGE NYLON WASHER IN PLACE. FEED THE WIRES AND INLINE CONNECTORS THROUGH THE HOLE IN THE FRONT COWLING AND THEN THREAD THE WIRES AND INLINE CONNECTORS FIRST THROUGH THE LARGE NYLON WASHER YOU REMOVED, THEN THE LOCK WASHER AND THEN THE NUT. SNUG UP THE NUT WITH THE SUPPLIED STUBBY WRENCH AND MAKE SURE THE TURN SIGNAL IS ALIGNED CORRECTLY. RECONNECT THE INLINE CONNECTORS TO THE PIGTAIL WITH THE OEM CONNECTOR. CONNECT THE OEM CONNECTOR TO THE MATING CONNECTOR ON THE WIRING HARNESS. NOTE THAT ON THE PAUL SMART THE WIRES MAY NEED REVERSING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BIKE SINCE IT APPEARS DUCATI HAS MISWIRED THE HARNESS CONNECTOR. YOU WILL HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE IF MOUNTING IN THE “STOCK” LOCATION. REVERSING THESE WIRES IN JUST A MATTER OF DISCONNECTING THE INLINE CONNECTORS AND SWAPPING THEM
