Remove the main seat and the passenger seat 2. Remove the tail cover by removing the two bolts. 3 Place the Power Commander in the tail section and route the wiring harness on the inside of the tail section towards the front of the bike (Fig. A). 4. Remove the fuel tank. 5. Remove the air box lid by removing the 8 screws around the outer edge (Fig. B). 6. Remove the bolts shown in Fig. C. This will allow you to remove the air box. This connector is located above the left hand side of the engine. This is a white 3 pin connector. Unplug this connector (Fig. D). 8. Plug the white connectors from the PCIII in-line of the stock TPS connector (Fig. E). 9. Locate the fuel rail connector behind the injector bodies (Fig. F). This connector is brown in color

1. Get a degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. (Just kidding!) 2. Remove the seat, side panels, and gas tank. If you are color blind or even think you might be a little color blind, now is the time to get someone to assist you. Successful installation of the kit requires good color recognition. You want to go riding this weekend, don’t you? Photo 1 3. Unplug the yellow, blue and black taillight wires from the stock wiring harness (Photo 1). 4. Unplug the headlight from the stock wiring harness and remove. 3 Photo 2 5. Remove the headlight on/off switch. Unplug the red two pin connector with yellow and brown wires (Photo 2) from its mate that was under the fuel tank. 6. Clip the zip tie holding the headlight leads to the fork tube, coil it up and secure it to the frame in front of the voltage regulator as shown in Photos 3 and 4. Remove bracket shown in Photo 3. 4 Headlight Leads Remove this bracket Photo 3 Coil up wires and secure with a zip tie Photo 4 7. Rear Turn Signal Installation: Turn signal mounting requires that you drill a 3/8 inch hole in either side of the rear fender near where it meets the side panels. You can achieve a clean, durable installation using this mounting location. Mount the rear turn signals by drilling a 3/8 hole in the rear fender in the location shown in Photo 5 and Photo 6. Use the templates provided at the back of this instruction manual to determine the hole locations. Note that you will also be drilling a 3/16 hole on each side as well. You may find it easier to remove the fender to drill and attach the turn signals rather than performing this modification while the fender is on the bike

REPAIR PROCEDURE Note: While completing this procedure DO NOT disconnect the 2-pin connector unless repair of the wire harness is required. 1. If not previously done, complete the ST1300/A #1 Service Bulletin before starting this procedure. 2. Remove the seats, left saddlebag, and left side panel by following the instructions in section 2 of the Service /l/Ianua/on pages 2-5 and 2-6. 3. Secure the centerstand assist handle out of the way. 4. Remove the rear shock adjuster support bar top bolt and move the bar out of the way. 5. Locate the ignition cord leading to the 2P connector and check the two black and white wires for chafing. |GNlTl6N con BLACK AND WHITE WIRES Chafing V I may OOCUF _ in this area 2-PIN CONNECTOR 2of6 – If the insulation is still intact and copper wire is not showing, proceed to the Preventative Measure section of this bulletin. – lf copper wire is showig, wrap the exposed area of the wire with a good quality electrical tape and proceed to the Preventative Mea- sure section of this bulletin. Preventative Measure: 1. Place the length of PVC split tubing around the ignition cord, butting up against the con- nector. Rotate the split toward the inside of the motorcycle. 2. Use good quality electrical tape to cinch the end of the PVC split tubing together (at the end that is touching the 2-pin connector), together. Secure the PVC split tubing to the ignition cord at the other end with electrical tape. 3. Secure the ignition cord and wire harness cord to the rear sub-frame with a commer- cially available wire band. INSTALLATION 1. Refer to the owner’s manual and follow the instructions given to disarm the security system and remove the left- side cover. Select the correct siren harness (3) for this model year vehicle from the kit. Route the three-pin connector (1) of the siren harness from the bottom of the motorcycle, between the primary cover and frame tube. Plug the connector into the siren harness connector (2) on the vehicle main harness. 7. Secure the connectors to the diagnostic harness using a cable strap from the kit. Route the long lead of the siren harness over the frame rear crossmember

Locate the oil pressure sending unit at the front right side of the crankcase and pull wire socket from terminal of the oil pressure sending unit. 4. Carefully draw the conduit and the pin side of mini-Deutsch connector forward and then up between the rear brake master cylinder reservoir and the frame downtube to area of the rear brake pedal. 5. Pull the oil sending unit wire through conduit and remove wire. Note the routing of the wire. 8. See Figure 9. Route the jumper (6) pins through the conduit from the kit in the same direction as the original wire noted in Step 7. Use cable straps to secure to the wire bundle. 9. See Figure 5. Locate pin chambers #1 and #2 on pin side of connector. Insert brown/green jumper pin into chamber #2 and feed until it clicks into place. Verify that pin will not back out of the chamber by giving a slight tug on the wire to confirm that it is locked

Routing the Antenna Wire The MCM includes an 18″ antenna wire. The first 12″ is a coaxial wire; the remaining 6″ is the reception antenna wire. When routing, try to avoid running the antenna along or near metal. For best performance, have the antenna wire as vertical as possible and exposed. Wire Connections The system includes one harness (HAR-1a) that connects directly into the MCM. The harness is split into three plugs: one for the GEN-1a connector, one for the optional SN-5 connector and one for the data output for future expansion. Note: Each plug is unique and will only fit the appropriate component one way. Main Harness Note: If the optional factory connector kit is being used, please disregard this section of the instructions and refer to the instructions supplied with the factory connector kit. The main harness consists of two harnesses. One is labeled (HAR-1a) and the second is labeled (GEN-1a). Plug in the white 4 pin connector from the (HAR-1a) into the matching 4 pin connector from the (GEN-1a). The (HAR-1a) also has a waterproof connector that plugs into the MCM. The wires should be connected as follows: HAR-1a Black wire with fuse and ring terminal – To battery Positive (+). GEN-1a Black wire – To ground (-). Orange wire – To tail light wire or any other wire that is hot (+) when ignition is ON (NOTE: this is an input to the alarm this connection is not designed to flash the tail light). 1. Using the nuts supplied, bolt the lighting system to the rack (on some earlier production models the holes may be off slightly and require that you drill the holes in the rack larger for alignment). 2. Using a side cutting pliers, trim away the corner of the metal grating and route the wire loom thru and out the bottom of the rack as shown. Route the loom along the bottom of the rack to where the plug on the motorcycle is or will be and secure it to the rack using the cable ties supplied. 3. Cut the wires and loom to the desired length to connect to the plug on the motorcycle. Connect the wires from the loom to your mating connector (not supplied) using the wire color code shown below. If you do not have a plug on the motorcycle you will need to purchase a mating male and female five pin or wire connector set. You may also use a six pin connector set and leave one pin unused as these are more readily available. RIVCO offers a six wire molded connector set with 60″ of wire #TWC002 or a waterproof six pin connector set with dust cap #TWC00

1. Be sure the main switch is in the off position during the installation process. Failure to do this will cause the “check engine” light to be set. 2. Remove seat exposing the tool tray and battery. 3. Remove the (2) 12mm Hex head bolts securing rear of tank. Prop up the rear of the tank. 4. Locate and unplug the white 4-pin connector under left side of tank as shown in figure 1. 5. Route Fuelpak as shown in figure 2. Plug Fuelpak white connectors to the factory connectors unplugged in step 4. 6. Connect brown and green wires to the negative side of the battery. 7. Route Fuelpak long black wire under right side of tank and down to the horn as shown in figure 3. Disconnect the factory black / white wire from horn. Plug in Fuelpak long black wire to horn and then connect factory black / white wire to terminal on Fuelpak black wire. 8. Locate the throttle position sensor on the throttle body located on right side of the tank. As shown in figure 4, attach T-tap to yellow / black wire on throttle position sensor. Connect Fuelpak violet wire to T-tap. 9. Using supplied Velcro, mount Fuelpak next to tool tray as shown in figure 5. 10. Reinstall tank with (2) 12mm Hex head bolts removed in step 3. 11. You are now ready to set-up your Fuelpak 1. Remove Fuelpak clear case cover by removing all four screws, save hardware . 2. Turn on main power with key, but do not start engine. Fuelpak display should light up, if not, turn power off and verify the connectors are fully seated. 3. Refer to Fuelpak Setting Reference to locate the Setting Values specific to your bike and exhaust system. If you do not find your setting, visit fuelpakfi.com or call tech support at (562) 921-0071. 4. Starting with mode 1 selected, press the value (+) or the value (-) buttons to input the correct value as indicated in your Setting Value. After entering your first value, press the mode select button to move to mode 2 and enter the value. Continue until you have entered the value for each of the first 18 mode positions. Each time the value (+) is pressed, the value increases by one number. Each time the value (-) is pressed, the value decreases by one number. (Please refer to the “How It Works” section directly above if you have questions about this step. 5. As the next procedure, after you have entered in your values for the first 18 modes, press the mode select button to move to mode 19. Fully twist open the throttle and return to idle position to calibrate the Fuelpak to your bike. 6. By pressing the mode select button twice, move to mode 21 and verify that it reads “0″ with the throttle closed, “50″ at approximately half-throttle and “99″ when fully opened; if not, repeat step 5. Do not proceed to step 7 until mode 21 is verified. 7. Enter any other mode values as required for your application. 8. Turn off power. 9. Reinstall clear cover, tuck Fuelpak under seat area and reinstall seat. 10. You are now ready to ride

Remove seat exposing the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and battery. 3. Remove the right side coil cover by removing two allen screws and gently pulling. 4. Disconnect the 6 pin factory connector behind the ignition coils. (Fig 1) 5. Connect Fuelpak 6 pin connectors in-line with factory connectors. 6. Disconnect 3 pin factory connectors behind the ignition coils and connect Fuelpak 3 pin connectors in-line with factory connectors. 7. Route Fuelpak harness up to battery area and reinstall coil side cover. 8. Connect Fuelpak black wire to negative ground wire. (Fig 2) 9. Locate factory 2 pin connector with brown and black wires. Disconnect empty connector and attach Fuelpak red wire connector. 10. Connect Fuelpak 10 pin connector to Fuelpak harness. 11. You are now ready to set-up your Fuelpak.
