Unlike other center stands, the WHEELDOCK EZ UP stand requires very little effort to operate and can usually be done while still on the bike by simply pushing down on the foot lever with your left foot. Once you feel both feet of the center stand in contact with the ground, transfer your weight up off of the seat and onto the foot lever of the center stand. The stand should rotate under the bike and a bit forward lifting the bike quite easily. CAUTION: Never attempt to raise the bike with a passenger on board, as you will damage the foot lever. You can also raise the bike on the center stand by using the following traditional method: Place the bike on the side stand and step off to the side. From the left side of the bike, push the bike up to the vertical position and press down on the foot lever until both feet of the stand are in contact with the ground. Now apply weight to the foot lever while lifting up on the bike. For cleaning the rear wheel: first place a ½-inch piece of plywood under the stand and use this (beside the bike) method for placing the bike up on the plywood spacer; this will allow the wheel to rotate freely for cleaning. Do not try this while on the bike, as it will require too much foot pressure on the lever. You now have two options to get the bike off of the stand: You can simply rock the bike forward, or put the bike in gear and drive off in most cases as long as you are parked on a flat, level surface. Tips for solving common problems: If you have the correct height stand and you still have difficulty getting the bike up on the stand check the following: the bike must be in neutral, the wheel should be straight forward and not cocked, do not hold the front brake lever and make sure you have 15 lb or more air pressure in the rear suspension. These are the most common problems we encounter.

twin-cylinder engines. Dresda was supplied a complete bike, from which the engine was removed and fitted into the Dresda frame. It was during this project that Dave Degens’ forward thinking showed itself once more, when he incorporated monoshock rear suspension, quite an advanced feature for the early 1970s. The Yamaha project would also demonstrate that Dave Degens’ skills extended to engines. The Yamaha twin suffered a persistent internal problem; Degens established the cause and carried out modifications to eliminate it. This work led to a contract for Dresda to follow the fault right through, including visiting the Porsche test centre where development on the engine was being carried out. He oversaw the various modifications, and also developed a further mod to rectify a fault that caused
the cam chain to destroy its tensioner. Whilst at the test centre, Dave became aware that an engine under test was not running correctly, and discovered that the throttle slides were fitted incorrectly. Much to everyone’s amazement, he corrected the throttle setup, and the engine achieved its expected power output. With a successful development frame for Yamaha and the engine work, Dave Degens and Dresda Autos had shown their potential to this important manufacturer. Of course, much of the motorcycling public already knew the worth of Dresda’s work, having seen that almost any engine would benefit from being fitted into a Dresda frame: Triumph, Norton, BSA, Suzuki, Honda,
and Kawasaki units have been used. In addition to its impressive frames, still being built, Dresdan Autos also markets its own swingarm kit, and have always offered a comprehensive modification service. It will modify a frame to take an alternative engine, or convert a dual shock system to monoshock, and carry out other special frame modifcations,

INSTALLATION Prepare Bike for Hardware Installation 1. Use a suitable lift to support the motorcycle under the frame until the rear suspension is fully extended. NOTE To remove the tether from the hole in the frame, reach under the frame tube to align the metal tee (located on the end of the seat tether) with the tether cable. 2. See Figure 1. Unlatch and open seat. Remove tether (4) by sliding small clip (3) sideways through hole in frame. NOTE To remove the tubular plastic seat-hinge sleeve from the hinge, turn the sleeve to reveal the slotted length. Push on the slot with your finger to pop the sleeve off the hinge pins. Closing the seat slightly allows the sleeve to fall from the hinge-side of the seat, so be prepared to catch the sleeve. 3. OPERATION 1. Remove cap from air suspension air valve and connect pump by threading the air valve adapter (1) on the pump as shown in Figure 1. When adapter is threaded properly, the current air pressure in the system will be indicated on the gauge of the pump. Do not exceed maximum air pressure for rear suspension. Air components fill rapidly. Therefore, use low air line pressure. Failure to do so may result in possible damage to components. (00165a) NOTES See the motorcycle’s Owner’s Manual or, if installed, the air suspension lowering kit’s instruction sheet for the recommended air pressures. Using pressures outside the recommended loading range will result in a reduction of available suspension travel and reduced rider comfort. 2. To increase pressure, operate the air pump handle (4) until the desired pressure is indicated on gauge (2). Use caution when bleeding air from the suspension. Moisture combined with lubricant may leak onto the rear wheel, tire and/or brake components and adversely affect traction, which could result in death or serious injury. (00084a) NOTE The pressure release button is designed to release pressure slowly. If the button is completely or rapidly depressed, no air will be released. For the best results, depress the pressure release button slowly and only partially. 3. To decrease pressure, slowly depress the pressure release button (3) on the pump until desired pressure is indicated on gauge (2)

INSTALLATION 1. Refer to the Service Manual and follow the instructions given to remove the seat. Perform this installation when the engine is cool. Working on or near the exhaust system when the engine is hot could result in severe burns. (00311a) Installation of any accessory suspension components can affect cornering clearance. This could distract the rider, causing loss of control and death or serious injury. (00431b) 2. Disconnect the battery cables, negative cable first or remove the main fuse if equipped. 3. Raise the rear end of the motorcycle so that the rear wheel is just off the ground. Support the motorcycle with suitable blocking under the frame. NOTE Retain the original fasteners for installation of new shocks. 4. Remove the saddlebags from the motorcycle. See the Touring model’s Owner’s Manual for saddlebag removal. 5. Fasten the air pump, part number 54630-03A to the rear air suspension adjustment valve on the motorcycle. See the Touring model’s owner’s manual for valve location. Add 3-5 psi to clear the line but do NOT exceed 50 psi. 6. Using the pressure relief valve located below the gauge on the pump, release the air pressure from the rear sus- pension. Use caution when bleeding air from the suspension. Moisture combined with lubricant may leak onto the rear wheel, tire and/or brake components and adversely affect traction, which could result in death or serious injury. (00084a) 7. 1. Raise the motorcycle and support it to enable the rear suspension to hang free. 2. Remove the stock rear link & struts. 3. Remove the link bearings and sleeves from the stock link with the exception of the bearings and sleeve in the middle of the link. You will be using the bearing & sleeve listed above in the middle position of the new link. This is the same bearing and sleeve that is used at the front of the Link. 4. Press the bearings into the new link making sure that the bearings are centered in the link. 5. Lubricate the bearings with high-pressure synthetic grease. 6. Install the sleeves in the same position as removed using the one listed above in the middle position. 7. Reinstall the link using the new bolt supplied in the kit in the middle position. 8. Torque all the bolts to the factory specifications. Torque the special bolt supplied in the kit to 70Nm, 50Ft-Lb. Blue Locktite is recommended. 9. As a rule of thumb the spring rate should be increased 0.5 kg or 28 lbs. in relation to the spring rate that is currently being used. This is a good starting point. Note: This kit is designed for single rider racing applications. The spring rate and dampening must be tailored for the individual rider weight, style of riding, motorcycle weight and track conditions. An experienced race mechanic using only the appropriate tools for removal and replacement of bearings and other components should only install this kit.
