1. First remove the set screw located on the bottom of the trim ring that holds the fog light in. Carefully lift the fog light out of the motorcycle as you disconnect the wires. 2. Remove the inner retaining ring located behind the lighthead and discard or save it. This retaining ring will not be used in this installation. 3. Attach the foam gasket to the LED lighthead as shown, leaving a gap on the bottom for drainage. 4. Connect the wires of new lighthead to the existing motorcycle wires. RED = +12 Volts BLACK = Ground 5. Insert the lighthead into the mounting hole of the fog light and secure it by re-installing the trim ring. 6. Test the lightheads operation and installation is complete. IMPORTANT! Before returning this vehicle to active service, visually confirm the proper operation of this product, as well as all vehicle components/equipment

Place jack under center on the ATV front end and lift until front wheels clear the ground. Be careful to support ATV properly so that it is secure, but so that the A-arms and shocks can droop to full extension. 2. Remove front wheels and shocks. 3. Using a shock spring compressor, compress the spring on the shock and remove the spring retaining ring.
CAUTION: The spring is installed under tension. Failure to use a shock spring compressor could cause loss of control of the spring, which could unload rapidly causing bodily injury. If you do not have a shock spring compressor you should acquire one or take it to a dealer or professional mechanic for installation of the stiffeners. 4. Remove the spring. 5. Insert the smaller front spring stiffener onto the shock with the lip of the spring stop, on the shock, mating into the recessed portion of the spring stiffener. 6. Slide the spring back onto the shock and it should rest on the lip of the spring stiffener.
7. Reattach the spring retaining ring. 8. Repeat steps for the opposite side. Once springs are complete reattach the top of the shock to the top shock mount on the ATV and the spring stiffener will be closest to the A-arm. 9. Take two of the “L” brackets and connect them to the bottom of the shock, the part that connects to the A-arms. 10. There is a top and bottom to the “L” bracket. See the diagram

REMOVAL 1. Remove seat according to the instructions in the service manual. Disconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, remove main fuse before proceeding. (00251b) 3. 2004-Later Models: a. Remove left saddlebag. Refer to the service manual. b. Remove left side cover and main fuse. Refer to the service manual. 4. Remove fuel tank according to the instructions in the service manual. 5. See Figure 1. Remove and save Phillips screws (1) that secure mounting ring assembly (2) to nacelle. 7. Gently pull headlamp assembly out far enough to disconnect wiring. Remove three screws (3) securing the retaining ring (4) and headlamp assembly to mounting ring assembly. Discard mounting ring assembly, but save three screws and retaining ring for installation

INSTALLATION Shifter Side, Left Block or jack vehicle under frame in a way that the vehicle will not fall over. Failure to properly block and/or raise the vehicle could result in death or serious injury. (00462c) 1. Block the motorcycle under the frame so that it is upright and level, with the weight off of the jiffy stand. 2. Remove footpeg. 3. Remove jiffy stand, shifter linkage and bracket per applicable Service Manual instructions, retaining hardware. 4. See Figure 5. Obtain the new left side shifter bracket (2), and three TORX® screws (3) from the kit. 5. Place washers previously removed on the screws. Apply LOCTITE® 243 (Blue) to the threads, and install the new bracket assembly to the motorcycle frame. Tighten the screws to 40 ft-lbs (54.2 Nm) . 6. See Figure 5. Install footpeg with spring washer (8), clevis pin (10) and retaining ring (9). If leg stop is incorrectly installed, excessive wear can allow vehicle to fall when rested on jiffy stand, which could result in death or serious injury. (00479b) 7. Install jiffy stand and attach the spring. When properly installed, the hook on the spring side connected to the bracket will face upward. 8. Verify that rubber bumper is in place on prong of jiffy stand. Without the bumper, the stand will make hard contact with the primary drive cover when retracted, which may result in damage to the cover. 9. Extend and retract the jiffy stand leg several times to verify proper operation. The stand should swing freely to the fully extended and fully retracted positions. 10. Refer to applicable Service Manual and re-attach the shifter linkage

REMOVE CLUTCH CABLE 1. See Figure 1. Loosen clutch adjuster to obtain slack in the clutch cable (2) by performing the following: a. Locate cable adjuster (1) and slide off rubber boot (4). b. While holding cable adjuster with 1/2-inch wrench, loosen jam nut (3) using a 9/16-inch wrench. c. Turn cable adjuster until there is a large amount of free play at hand lever. 1 2 3 4 is 00889 1. Remove the clutch release cover, being careful not to damage the gasket. NOTE The clutch release cover gasket (P/N 36801-87B) will need to be replaced if torn or damaged to prevent transmission fluid from leaking from the release cover. 4 3 5 2 6 1 is 00894 Figure 3. Pull inner ramp (2) and coupling (5) out of side cover. Hold inner and outer ramps together to keep balls from falling free. 6. Rotate the inner ramp to a position that will allow the coupling (5) to be disconnected from the inner ramp lever arm. Disconnect coupling from inner ramp. Disconnect cable end from coupling. 7. Back out threaded cable fitting from side cover. Ensure that o-ring is removed with cable. Discard o-ring. INSTALL CLUTCH CABLE 1. See Figure 4. Obtain braided stainless steel clutch cable from kit. Apply a light coat of oil on new o-ring and install o-ring (Part Number 11179) onto threaded portion of clutch cable (4). Insert clutch cable fitting (3) into clutch release cover. Do not tighten cable fitting at this time. 2. Connect cable end to coupling. Rotate ramps for best access and install coupling on inner ramp. Place ramp assembly in position in side cover. 3. Install retaining ring. Position retaining ring opening so it is located approximately over the outer ramp tang (the stop that prevents rotation). NOTE Replace clutch release cover gasket if torn or damaged. 4. See Figure 3. Place gasket, if removed, on side cover and install side cover. Tighten the six screws in the order shown to 84-108 in-lbs (10-12 Nm) . 5. Tighten the clutch cable fitting to 36-60 in-lbs (4-7 Nm) . 6. Place a few drops of oil inside cable housing. 7. Route clutch cable as follows: SOFTAIL MODELS FXSTD, FLSTS, FXSTS and FXST – Route clutch cable from the clutch release cover, across the frame, up along the front frame downtubes and across the front of the handlebars. Cable straps (item 1 in service parts illustration) to be used in same location as original equipment straps. FLSTF and FLSTC – Route clutch cable from the clutch release cover, across the frame and up along the front frame down- tubes, up to and behind the handlebars. Cable straps (item 1 in service parts illustration) to be used in same location as original equipment straps. DYNA MODELS FXDWG – Route clutch cable from the clutch release cover, under frame and across to the left side. See Figure 5. Insert cable (1) into clip (2) at the bottom left side of the frame

Additional Parts Required The rider’s safety depends upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333a) NOTE This instruction sheet references Service Manual information. A Service Manual for your model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from a Harley-Davidson Dealer. Kit Contents See Figure 5, Figure 6 and Table 1. INSTALLATION Remove Stock Shift Lever and Footrest Assembly 1. See Figure 1. Loosen the shift lever retaining screw (2) securing the shift lever (1) to the shifter shaft. Slide the shift lever off the splined shaft. Remove shifter peg from lever and save for installation. Discard shift lever. 2. Remove the two socket head screws (4) securing the footrest bracket (3) to the frame and remove footrest. Discard screws. 3. See Figure 5. Obtain two hole plugs (1) from kit and firmly press plugs into frame screw holes remaining from footrest removal. 4. See Figure 2. Remove the retaining ring (1) from the clevis to free the footrest clevis pin (4). Remove the clevis pin and footrest (3) from the footrest support. Save footrest for installation. INSTALLATION 1. Remove the locknuts and screws that hold the existing footpegs in place. If the motorcycle is equipped with a pin and retaining ring, remove them and retain for future use. Save all hardware for installation of the new footpegs. 2. Remove the existing footpegs and the spring washers. Save the spring washers for installation. NOTE See Figure 1. INSTALLATION Prepare the Motorcycle 1. Follow the Service Manual instructions to remove the seat. To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect negative (-) battery cable before proceeding. (00048a) 2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable from the battery. 3. Place motorcycle on a lift and secure the front wheel. 4. Use an overhead crane or hoist attached to the frame to lift the rear of the motorcycle to allow the rear fork to pivot through its range of travel. 5. Place a screw jack under the rear wheel to support and adjust the rear fork during shock removal, installation and ride height adjustment. Be sure rear wheel is supported when removing rear shocks. If wheel is not supported rear fork can drop down, which could result in death or serious injury. (00481b) Removal 1. See Figure 1. Remove the bolt and washer (1) that fasten each of the shock absorbers (2) to the rear fork. NOTE Snap-on Tool Co. adapter, Part Number SRES 24, is necessary to gain access to the shock absorber bolts. 2. Remove the flanged locknut (6) and cup washer with grommet (5) fastening the shock absorber to the frame bracket (4) and remove the shock absorber. 3. Remove, inspect and, if necessary, replace the rubber grommets, the cup washers (5), and the bushing (3). 4. Repeat for the other shock absorber. Disassemble the Shock 1. Thoroughly clean the rear fork end of the shock, especially near the shock canister seal. 2. Support the rear fork end of the shock absorber and shock canister on the table of a press. 3. Press on the shaft to compress the spring in the canister until the keeper plate drops down away from the retaining ring.
