Installation Water may enter Tour-Paks/saddlebags with flag mast installed during inclement weather. Attaching a flag mast to a Tour-Pak or saddlebag without wear pads in place may result in damage to the Tour-Pak or saddlebag exterior. Periodically check to ensure the flag mast remains in contact with wear pads. 1. See Figure 1. Remove adhesive backing from wear pad and place on area where mast base will hit the painted portion of the Tour-Pak and/or saddlebag. Attach flag mast to Tour-Pak or saddlebag as shown. Attaching flag mast to Tour-Pak or saddlebag without rubber pads in place may result in damage to exterior of Tour-Pak or saddlebag. 2. Cut the self adhesive rubber pad in half. Remove the backing from the rubber pads and place on the inside of the Tour-Pak or saddlebags on each side of the flag mast as shown. INSTALLATION 1. See Figure 1. Remove locknuts (1) and screws (2) that hold existing footpegs in place. Save hardware for installation of new footpegs. 2. Remove existing footpegs along with spring washers (3). Save spring washers for installation of new footpegs. 3. Install new footpegs in the same manner as old footpegs were installed: •Place a spring washer (3), along with the mount end of the footpeg, inside the slots of the footpeg supports (4). •Make sure the spring washer is positioned inside the footpeg support with the square edge toward the inside of the support. •Secure each footpeg and spring washer with a screw (2) and locknut (1). •Tighten locknuts to 19 ft-lbs (26 Nm) . Footrests must fold up and toward rear of motorcycle if struck. Failure to set footrests to fold up and back could result in death or serious injury. (00366a) 4. For each footpeg, remove the screw (5) and rubber pad (6). Loosen the adjusting screw (7) until the footpeg (8) rotates. Position the footpeg (8) as desired, then tighten the adjusting screw to 19 ft-lbs (26 Nm) . Place the rubber pad (6) on the footpeg and tighten the screw (5)

REMOVAL Remove Right and Left Forks 1. Place suitable blocking under frame to raise front wheel several inches off the floor. For best results, use a hydraulic center stand on a level surface. 2. See the service manual and remove front wheel, fender and brake caliper. 3. Spray glass cleaner on the fork tube between upper and lower fork bracket to lubricate. 1 2 2 is04050 1. Fork cap bolt 2. While holding the fork slider to prevent the fork from dropping, loosen pinch screws (2). 5. Remove fork tube by sliding the fork tube down and out of the upper and lower fork brackets. 6. 7. Move forks to bench area. Place suitable drain pan on floor beneath vise. Disassemble Left and Right Fork

1. Remove any loose pads, remove any remaining rubber & glue using a blade screwdriver or razor blade. 2. Rough up the chrome surface with sand paper or by scratching with the tip of a screw driver. 3. Clean any remaining glue residue off using acetone solvent or nail polish remover. 4. Clean both the floorboards and the back side of the rubber pad with rubbing alcohol. 5. Using the supplied small brush and tube of 3M weather strip adhesive, apply a thin layer of glue to both the floorboard and the backside of the rubber pad or pads. Allow to dry for 10-15 minutes or until tacky to the touch. Apply a second thin coat to both surfaces and while still wet press the rubber firmly into place and keep pressure applied evenly for 45-60 seconds
