If two modules are already installed on top of the radio, two Dual-LockTM mounts, (76434-06), will be needed. Models WITHOUT a Tour-Pak installed will require the additional purchase of a Frame Mount CB Antenna Kit (76415- 06). Models WITH a Tour-Pak installed will require the additional purchase of a Tour-Pak Mount CB Antenna Kit (76414-06). All of these items are available from a Harley-Davidson Dealer. See Figure 1. Note mounting locations for engine guard. 2. See Figure 2. Hold Engine Guard (1) in place. Attach top center mounting flange of engine guard to cross brace located between front downtubes just below the steering head with panhead screw (4), 5/16 inch washer (3) and 5/16 inch hex nut (2) as shown. On left side of the bike, attach the engine mounting guard (1) in the indicated location with a button- head screw (4), 3/8 inch washer (3) and 3/8-16 nylon locknut (2). Tighten finger tight. 4. Repeat installation on right side of the bike, attach the mounting guard in the indicated location. Tighten to 33 ft- lbs (44 N-m). 5. Tighten engine guard left side mounting hardware to 33 ft-lbs (44 N-m). Tighten engine guard top mounting hardware to 19 ft-lbs (25 N-m).

This Chrome Igition Switch Cover fits all 2004 and later XL (Sportster®) model motorcycles. It is a direct replacement for the original equipment (OE) switch cover. NOTE There are no Service Parts available with this kit. Installation 1. See Figure 1. Remove the ignition switch face nut (3). NOTE To avoid damaging the fuel tank finish, lift the front of the tank to provide clearance for removing and installing the screw. 2. Remove the front mounting bolt on the fuel tank. 3. Remove the ignition cover mounting screw, then remove and discard the original ignition switch cover. 4. Place the chrome ignition switch cover in position, and install the original mounting screw. Tighten the screw to 3-7 ft-lbs (4-9 Nm). 5. Reinstall the front fuel-tank mounting bolt. Tighten the bolt to 8-16 ft-lbs (11-22 Nm). 6. Original Equipment Voltage Regulator  NOTE For 2007 models: The ground wire on the voltage regulator must be re-attached at the original location when re-installing the voltage regulator to ensure adequate ground. 4. For ALL models: See Figure 1. Remove and discard the voltage regulator caddy cover (6) from the regulator bracket (3) and caddy (5). For 2007 models: In addition, remove the lower voltage regulator cover (10). 5. Remove and retain the hex socket head screw (4) at the top left of the bracket For 2007 models: In addition, disconnect the ground wire. Free the cable straps (9) from the regulator bracket, beneath the regulator. 6. Remove the two hex socket head screws with washers (2) retaining the voltage regulator to the bracket. Remove and save the regulator, but discard the screws. 7. Remove and retain the screw (4) at the top right of the regulator bracket. Remove the bracket from the engine. 8. For 2008 and later models: Free the strap (9) that ties the jiffy stand wiring to the voltage regulator bracket. Unfasten the three-way jiffy stand sensor connector and the two-way crank position sensor connector [79] (12) from the T-studs on the back of the regulator bracket (3). Discard the bracket. Disconnect both plugs from the back of the voltage regulator (1). For 2007 models: Unfasten the four-way (7) and two-way (8) voltage regulator connectors from the T-studs on the back of the regulator bracket (3), and discard the bracket. Disconnect the voltage regulator (1) at both connectors. 9. For 2008 and later models: Unclip the two-way O 2 (oxygen) sensor electrical connector [138] (11) from the voltage regulator caddy (5). For 2007 models: Unfasten the two-way crank position sensor connector [79] (12) from the voltage regulator caddy (5). Remove the caddy from the vehicle frame. a. For 2007 models: Unclamp the bottom of the caddy from the engine mount spacers. b. For ALL models: Unhook the top clips from around the tabs on the front of the engine casting. Remove the original equipment (O.E.) caddy from the vehicle frame, and discard it.

INSTALLATION To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect negative (-) battery cable before proceeding. (00048a) 1. Refer to the Owner’s Manual and follow the instructions given to remove the seat and disconnect the negative battery cable at the engine crankcase. Retain all seat mounting hardware. 2. Models with mid foot controls: Remove the two screws retaining the left-side rider footrest and mounting bracket assembly. 3. All models: See Figure 1. Note the installed orientation of the transmission foot shift lever to aid in re-assembly. Use a 1/4 in. hex key to remove the socket head screw (5) holding the shift lever (3 or 4) to the transmission shift lever shaft (1). Remove the lever and rubber washer (2). 4 1 5 3 2 5 is 01929 1. Remove and discard the primary cover hex-socket head screws from the four locations shown. 5. Refer to CLUTCH CONTROL: REMOVAL: CLUTCH CABLE-LOWER in the Service Manual to remove the clutch cable at the lower end with these exceptions: •The negative battery cable has already been disconnected, and •On mid-control models, the rider footrest has already been removed. 6. See CLUTCH LEVER AND CLUTCH CABLE-UPPER to remove the clutch cable at the upper end. NOTE Be careful not to scratch the paint on the frame tube when removing the clips. 7. Carefully remove the two vinyl-coated spring steel clips that retain the clutch cable to the frame downtube. 8. Obtain all of the items from the kit. 9. See Figure 2. Insert a chrome screw (3), from the outside, through the hole in location 3 on the chrome trim cover. Place the thinner steel spacer (4) onto the threads of the screw from the inside of the trim cover. 10. Use a 5/32 inch hex key on the screw head, and grip one of the Nylon keeper washers (6) with a pliers. Install the washer onto the screw until several threads extend from the washer, capturing the screw and spacer on the trim cover. 11. Insert the remaining chrome screws, from the outside, through the holes in locations 1, 2 and 4 on the chrome trim cover. Place a thicker steel spacer (5) onto the threads of each screw from the inside of the trim cover. 12. Thread a Nylon keeper washer onto each of the screws as described in Step 10. 13. Position the trim cover over the primary cover with the transmission shift lever shaft extending through the clearance hole (A) in the chrome trim cover. 14. Thread one of the chrome screws into the mating primary cover mounting hole for several threads, taking care not to cross-thread the screw in the hole. 15. Carefully start the remaining screws partially into their mating holes. Continue tightening the screws in turn

These Backrest Pad kits are designed for installation on 1984 and later models equipped with a sissy bar sideplate kit in combination with a Short Rail upright kit, Part No. 52737-94 or 52728-95. The 52513-94 Backrest Pad kit is only for models equipped with Badlander seats and one of the following Mini Rail upright, kits: 52738-94A, 52744-94 or 51512-02. The 52568-01 Backrest Pad Kit is designed for installation on 2001 FXDWG2 model motorcycles and should be used with mini rail upright part number 52744-94 as well as the right and left stock FXDWG Sideplates or an appropriate detachable sideplate kit. The 52901-01 Backrest Pad Kit is designed for installation on 2002 FXDWG3 model motorcycles and should be used with mini rail upright part number 51512-02 as well as the right and left stock FXDWG Sideplates or an appropriate detachable sideplate kit. Kit Contents See Figure 3 and Table 2. There are no Service Parts available with this kit. INSTALLATION NOTE Figures 1 and 2 show pad being mounted on short upright, Part No. 52737-94, before short upright is mounted on side- plates. The pad may be installed before or after short upright is mounted. 1. See Figure 1. Remove protective film from mounting bracket (1) and attach the mounting bracket with the 1/4- 28 x 3/8 in. screw (2) onto short upright, Part No. 52737- 94 or 52728-95; or onto Mini Rail upright, Part No. 52738- 94 or 52744-94. Check that mounting bracket is parallel with upright and tighten screw to 48-60 in-lbs (5.4-6.8 Nm). 2. See Figure 2. Position backrest pad (1) on the upright. Place mounting plate (2) in position and secure with two chrome screws (3) as shown. Tighten screws to 48-60 in- lbs (5.4-6.8 Nm)

INSTALLATION 1. Remove the locknuts and screws that hold the existing footpegs in place. If the motorcycle is equipped with a pin and retaining ring, remove them and retain for future use. Save all hardware for installation of the new footpegs. 2. Remove the existing footpegs and the spring washers. Save the spring washers for installation. NOTE See Figure 1. When performing the next step, verify that the spring washer is positioned inside of the footpeg support with the square edge (2) towards the inside of the support. 1 3 2 is02094 1. Spring washer 2. Insert a spring washer (1) and the mount end of the footpeg inside the slots (3) of the footpeg supports. 4. Secure each footpeg and spring washer to the footpeg support with the screw and locknuts or pin and retaining rings removed earlier. Tighten the locknuts to 19 ft-lb (26 Nm) . Footrests must fold up and toward rear of motorcycle if struck. Failure to set footrests to fold up and back could result in death or serious injury. Failure to have full access to foot controls can cause loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00313a)

REMOVAL All Models 1. If equipped with saddlebags, removal may ease installation. Follow the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual or Instruction Sheet. 2. See Figure 1. Remove and discard the forwardmost fender support bolt (1). Repeat for the other side. 3. See Figure 2. On the left side, remove the footrest support mounting bolt (1) and footrest support bracket assembly (2). Discard the mounting bolt. 2005 – 2006 Models 1. Loosen the exhaust shields as necessary following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. Move as necessary for access. 2. Loosen the exhaust header nuts following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. 3. See Figure 3. Remove bolt (1) connecting the exhaust system (2) to the support bracket (3). 4. See Figure 4. Remove the two rear muffler bracket bolts (1). 5. See Figure 5. Move mufflers enough to access the rear bolt attaching the exhaust mounting bracket to the frame. Remove bolt (1) and discard. 2007 – Later Models NOTE On 2007 – later models, the frame tab (4) has a plug instead of a bolt (see Figure 6, item 1). 1. Remove plug and discard. 1 is05313 1. Install the lower screw (4 or 5) with the saddlebag guard, washer (9) and locknut (6) inside the frame. Tighten screw finger-tight. 3. Tighten the upper screw to 30 ft-lbs (41 Nm) . 4. Tighten the lower screw to 40 ft-lbs (54 Nm) . Tighten nut to 30 ft-lbs (41 Nm) . 5. 2005 – 2006 Models: a. Loosely install the exhaust header bolts. b. See Figure 4. Loosely install two rear muffler bracket bolts (1). c. See Figure 3. Loosely install bolt securing exhaust system (2) to support bracket (3). d. Tighten exhaust header bolts following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. e. Tighten support bracket bolt and rear muffler bracket bolts following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. f. Tighten exhaust shields following the instructions in the appropriate Service Manual. 6. For 2007 and later Models: Install lower screw (10) through the saddlebag guard, footpeg support and the frame. Tighten to 30 ft-lbs (41 Nm) . 3. Tighten upper screw to 30 ft-lbs (41 Nm)

Kit Contents See Figure 3 and Table 1. INSTALLATION 1. Remove existing seat according to Owner’s Manual Instructions. Save all attaching hardware. 2. See Figure 1. Install two flange nuts (1) from kit onto the seat mounting studs. Tighten flange nuts to 5-8 ft-lbs (7- 11 Nm) . 1 is03023 1. Install flange nuts Figure 1. Flange Nut Locations NOTE See Figure 3 for Steps 3-6. 3. Remove two screws (A) and rear mounting bracket (B) from stock seat. Save all hardware. 4. Install the rear mounting bracket (B) removed in Step 3 onto the new seat using the seat bracket screws (A). Tighten screws to 19 in-lbs (2.1 Nm) . 5. Install new seat (1) on the motorcycle by inserting the tab at the front of the seat into the slot at the rear of the fuel tank. After installing seat, pull upward on seat to be sure it is locked in position. While riding, a loose seat can shift causing loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00070b) 6. Fasten rear seat bracket (B) to fender nut using stock mounting screw (C). 7. See Figure 2. To install grabstrap, remove front screw and washer from rear fender support. Install grabstrap with thick washers (1), thin washers (3) and screws (4) from kit. Tighten to 21-27 ft-lbs (28-37 Nm)

REMOVE SEAT NOTE When performing the following installation procedures, avoid scratching painted surfaces (fender, tank, etc.) with tools or metal seat tabs. 1. Remove screw to detach rear seat mounting bracket from fender. 2. Remove two capscrews that attach seat mounting bracket to bottom of stock seat. 3. Remove the existing seat from the motorcycle. Save the seat bracket and mounting screws for installation of the new seat. 4. If motorcycle has a grabstrap installed, remove nut and washer that holds passenger strap in place and remove strap. 5. See Figure 1. Remove the plastic cap from rearmost fender hole (3). 6. Remove the seat retention nut and washer from the solo seat mounting hole. 7. See Figure 2. A cable strap may be used as an installation aid to remove and reinstall the retention nut and washer. Place the retention nut (1) over the cable strap (3) so the wide end of the nut rests on the eye of the cable strap. Thread the cable strap up under the fender and through the rearmost fender hole. Pull up on the cable strap to hold the nut snug against the underside of the fender. 8. With the rib on the retention nut seated into the notch in the fender hole, slide the retention washer (2) into place from the rear. This will lock the retention nut in place.
