license Plate Mount Installation: Locate the aluminum license plate mount and license plate light assembly. Remove the rear most nut securing the stock taillight assembly (underneath the fender) (don’t lose the little compression tube and washer). Temporarily install the license plate mount to this location and mark the fender where it needs to be drilled for the rear mounts. Drill the fender in two places with a ¼” drill and reinstall the license plate assembly using the stock taillight mount and the 6 x 20 mm countersunk screws, bezels and nylock nuts Rear Turn Signal Installation: Locate the two rear turn signals in the kit – they’re the ones with the longer wires. Drill a 3/8 hole in each side of the fender as shown in Photo 3 and attach them as shown in Photo 4. It does no matter which signal goes on which side. Run the left turn signal wires forward along with the taillight wires, up through the grommet in the fender to the area just behind the air box cross member and above the fender. Run the right turn signal wires forward along the right frame rail, and through the same hole you made for the license plate wires Brake Light Switch Installation: The WR250/450 uses a hydraulic brake switch. This requires replacing the rear master cylinder banjo bolt with a specially made switch. Installing the switch requires bleeding the rear brake. If you do not feel competent bleeding your rear brake, please refer this job to a qualified mechanic, as failure to do it correctly will make the brake inoperable. Remove the rear master cylinder guard. Remove the bolt holding the brake fluid reservoir to provide access to the master cylinder. Loosen the banjo bolt securing the rear brake line to the master cylinder. Typically, this bolt will be very tight and loosening it will bend the support hanger for the master cylinder if not supported. Brace the master cylinder with a wrench or lever. Remove the banjo bolt and replace with the hydraulic switch. Make sure to install the copper crush washer from the stock bolt under the switch. Torque the switch assembly to 25 lb-ft.

Carefully remove the tail section body work. Save all bolts, washers and plastic rivets for re-installation of tail. Disconnect and remove the brake light (with all mounting grommets and washers), license plate and turn signals, key lock (with clip) and move all wiring out of the cutting areas. Remove the two bolts at the rear end of the stock fender (inside glove box) to allow the end to hang down for cutting.
2) Using a “Dremel” tool or cutting disc (this can also be done using a sharp edged knife, but is not recommended), remove the plastic shown in the photos to the above and below. Be sure to take your time cutting, so that you don’t cut away any more plastic than necessary. Honda CBR954RR Undertail Kit (2002-03, Available in: Honda Red, Gloss Black and Gun Metal) 3) *Install license plate brackets to back side of license plate as shown. Now hold license plate in desired location on undertail, carefully mark and drill holes, install using the two (2) sets of allen bolts and lock nuts. 4) Insert undertail left side first, then right side, be carefully not to crack
or scratch undertail. Use your stock plastic screw rivets to hold under- tail in place. Tighten all hardware on tail section, attach seat.
5) Using clips, splice your turn signal wires to the signals in the undertail. On the bike; the orange wire is the the left turn, light blue wire is the right turn and the green wires are the grounds. On the undertail the red wires are the power wires and the black wires are the ground. * After this modification your undertail is not returnable. Paint is not warrantied against paint chips, flaking or scratches from installation or rocks being thrown from tire into the tray. Need Help? If you need additional help with the installation of the undertail, go to www.hotbodiesracing.com and look for the “FAQs” link at the bottom of the home page. Most of your general questions can be answered on those pages. This installation does require a basic mechani- cal aptitude, if in doubt, contact your local motorcycle shop and have a professional mechanic perform the installation, 3 hours is the average installation time

INSTALLATION Preparation 1. Position the vehicle on a motorcycle lift under the frame so the vehicle is upright and level. To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect battery cables (negative (-) cable first) before proceeding. (00307a) Disconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00049a) 2. Refer to the service manual and follow the instructions given to remove the seat and disconnect the battery cables, negative (-) cable first. Retain all seat mounting hardware. 3. Remove the battery from the vehicle per the instructions in the service manual. 4. Raise the rear of the vehicle to relieve the load on the shock absorbers. 5. Follow the service manual instructions to remove only the bottom end shock absorber fasteners on each side of the vehicle. Save the fasteners for later assembly. 6. Raise the rear of the vehicle further to allow access to the underside of the rear fender. 7. Remove the license plate from the vehicle (if installed). Retain the plate and attaching hardware. Rear Fender Removal NOTE Note the location and orientation of rear fender mounting hardware, and save for later assembly. 1. Refer to the service manual and follow the instructions given to remove the rear fender, with the following exceptions: a. Removal of the tail lamp from the fender is not necessary. Rear Lamp Wiring 1. Cut off and discard the socket housings and terminal ends from the turn signal wires. 2. See Figure 1. Unscrew and remove the turn signal stalk (15) from one of the turn signal lamps, and discard. Remove and retain the turn signal lamp and support (14) from the rear fender support cover. 3. INSTALLATION 1. Remove the seat according to the procedure in the applicable Service Manual. To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect negative (-) battery cable before proceeding. (00048a) Disconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00049a) 2. Disconnect battery cables, negative cable first. Stop the engine when refueling or servicing the fuel system. Do not smoke or allow open flame or sparks near gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explosive, which could result in death or serious injury. (00002a) NOTE There are two possible methods of connecting the directional signal wires; using the 6-place connector, or by splicing the wires using connectors supplied in the kit. If the splicing method is selected, it will not be necessary to remove the fuel tank. However, the splices will be visible. Proceed to Step 4. 3. Remove the fuel tank according to the procedure in the appropriate Service Manual. 4. See Figure 1. Remove the existing right directional signal according to the procedure in the appropriate Service Manual. Save the internal-tooth lockwasher (1) and spacer (2). 5. Place the internal-tooth lockwasher (1) and spacer (2) (saved in Step 4) on the mirror shaft, and install the mirror (3) in the mounting bracket. Secure the mirror using an internal-tooth lockwasher (4) and acorn nut (5) (both supplied in the kit). If the acorn nut (5) “bottoms” without tightening, add a spacer (6) from the kit in the location shown. 6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for the left directional signal.
