Make sure the motorcycle is cool and place securely on a service lift or stand. 2) Remove the two bolts securing the rider seat to the motorcycle. Remove the seat. See Figure #1 3) Using the key, remove the passenger seat. 4) Remove the bolts and push pin fasteners securing the tail section to the sub frame. Carefully spread the tail section and remove it from the motorcycle. See Figur ) Disconnect the turn signal & tail light plugs on the left side of the sub frame. 6) Remove the four bolts securing the complete rear fender assembly (including the tail light & turn signals) and the rear reflectors to the sub frame. Remove from the motorcycle. See Figure #2 7) Remove the two nuts from the back side of the reflectors and retain to be used elsewhere in Step #38. 8) Remove the two bolts securing the right side passenger peg. Remove the passenger peg. See Figure #4 9) Remove the bolt from the inside of the stock s-bend heat shield located behind the rear brake reservoir. See Figure #5 10)Remove the bolt securing the silver plastic heel cover from the right side rider peg mount. Remove the cover. REMOVING THE STOCK MUFFLERS 1. Loosen the bolt on the pinch clamp at the front end of each muffler. 2. Remove the two bolts that mount the muffler to the mounting bar. Repeat this step on the opposite muffler. 3. Remove the stock mufflers and set them aside. Note: It may be necessary to use a penetrating lubricant to loosen the mufflers from the head pipes. INSTALLING YOUR NEW VANCE & HINES SLIP-ON EXHAUST SYSTEM 1. Remove the two 5/16″ flanged head bolts from the bracket that is welded to the backside of each muffler. Attach one of the mounting brackets (supplied) to each muffler, using two of the 5/16″ flanged head bolts (removed earlier), leaving them loose at this time. When the bracket is mounted correctly on the muffler, the single hole end should point down when the muffler is mounted to the bike. 2. Be sure there is a muffler clamp (supplied) over the front (notched end) of each muffler. 3. Slip the muffler onto the stock head pipe, mount the muffler to the rear most hole of the stock mounting bar, using one of the stock bolts and tighten. Repeat this step on the opposite muffler. Note: When installed correctly, the Vance & Hines logo on the muffler should face outwards. 4. Tighten the two muffler clamps. 5. Tighten the two 5/16″ flange bolts on each muffler bracket. 6. Wipe any finger prints or oil off any chrome parts of the exhaust system before starting the motorcycle. 7. Be sure to tighten all hardware before starting your motorcycle. RE-JETTING INSTRUCTIONS Re-jetting the carburetor will result in realizing the “full” potential of this performance exhaust system. Vance & Hines offers jet kits for most applications

REMOVING THE STOCK EXHAUST SYSTEM 1. Loosenthe right hand side footrest assembly. 2. Loosenthe two head pipes at the cylinder head. 3. Loosen the muffler clamps, located on the inlet end of the mufflers. 4. Remove the two nuts that mount the lower muffler to motorcycle. Keep the two mufflers bolted together as an assembly. 5. Lift the muffler assembly up to clear the studs from the mounting holes. Pull the mufflers off the head pipes and set them aside. 6. Remove the two flanged steel spacers from the hole in the rubber cushions, where the stock muffler assembly mounted. Reinstall the steel spacers through the backside of the rubber cushions so the flanged end of the spacers are on the backside of the cushions, opposite of there original position. 7. Remove the rear most heat shields from both of the head pipes and set them aside. 8. Remove the stock exhaust gaskets from the ends of both pipes. The Vance & Hines slip-on does not use a gasket at the slip joint . 9. Install the new muffler mounting bracket (stamped with the # 233 ) to the front side of the two holes with the rubber cushions the two of the 5/16″x 1 1/4″ bolt and two 5/16″ lock nuts (hardware supplied) through the two holes in the bracket that are spaced farthest apart. When mounted correctly, the bracket should bend up and out from the motorcycle

REMOVING THE STOCK EXHAUST SYSTEM 1. Remove both left and right saddlebags and set them aside. 2. Loosen the bolt from the pinch clamp on the front end of each muffler. Note: On the older model Dresser, spread the clamps just enough to remove them. 3. Remove the two 5/16″ bolts that mount the muffler to the saddlebag supports. Repeat this step on the opposite muffler. 4. Remove the stock mufflers and set them aside. Note: It may be necessary to use a penetrating lubricant to loosen the muffler from the head pipe. INSTALLING YOUR NEW VANCE & HINES EXHAUST SYSTEM 1. Install one muffler clamp (supplied) over the front (notched end) of each muffler. 2. Slip the muffler over the stock head pipe, mount the muffler to the saddlebag support using the two stock 5/16″ bolts and tighten. Note : There is a different muffler for the left and right side of the motorcycle. The dent in each canister should always be facing in. This is to allow clearance for the swingarm. 3. Tighten the two muffler clamps. (Torque Specification 12 ft/lbs.) 4. Replace the saddlebags. 5. Be sure to tighten all hardware before starting your motorcycle. RE-JETTING INSTRUCTIONS Re-jetting the carburetor will result in realizing the “full” potential of this performance exhaust system. Vance & Hines offers jet kits for most applications. For fuel injected models, we recommend the use of Vance & Hines Fuelpak part number 61003. PLEASE NOTE: Every effort is made for Vance & Hines Exhaust Systems to provide improved cornering clearance. However, due to design and space limitations on some motorcycle models, ground and cornering clearance may not be improved and in some cases may be reduced. STOCK EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL 1. Loosen the heat shield clamps on both the front and rear exhaust pipes. This allows easier access to the head pipe mounting nuts. 2. Loosen, but do not remove, the two head pipe mounting nuts from each flange located at the cylinder head. 3. Remove the clamp bolt which mounts the rear head pipe to the belt drive cover bracket. 4. Loosen the clamp holding the mufflers onto the head pipes. Tools required for installation: 1/2″ combination wrench 3/8″ drive ratchet and 9″ extension 9/16″ and 1/2″ sockets 5/16″ Nutdriver/flat blade screwdriver 5. Remove the two bolts from each muffler which attach the mufflers to the mounting bar. 6. Remove the mufflers by sliding them off the head pipes. 7. Remove the clamp from the nose of each muffler (these will be re-used when installing the new mufflers). 8. Remove the gaskets from the crossover ports on the stock mufflers. Inspect the gaskets and replace if damaged or worn (H-D part #65927-00). 9. Install crossover gaskets onto mounting bar on motorcycle. VANCE & HINES EXHAUST SYSTEM INSTALLATION 1. Remove mufflers and heat shields from protective packaging. 2. Slide the nut plate inside the bracket that is welded to the backside of each muffler body and attach the muffler bodies to the mounting brackets (stamped 379-P) using four 5/16″ x 5/8″ flange head bolts (supplied). Leave them loose at this time (Figure 1). 3. Slide stock exhaust clamp onto nose of each muffler. 4. Slide mufflers onto head pipes and align crossover port with gasket on mounting bar (Figure 2). Press into place on gasket. 5. Attach the muffler brackets to the stock mounting bar using four 5/16″ x 3/4″ hex head bolts, washers, and nuts (supplied). Leave them loose at this time (Figure 3). 6. Tighten cylinder port exhaust flange nuts on front and rear cylinders. 7. Install and tighten the clamp bolt which mounts the rear head pipe to the belt drive cover bracket. 8. Align muffler and bracket so they sit level. Tighten the muffler mounting bolts and the bracket mounting bolts. 9. Tighten the clamp holding the muffler onto the head pipe.

1. Make sure the bike is completely cool before starting the installation. Make sure the bike is secure on a centerstand or ideally a service lift. 2. Remove heat shield. 3. Loosen muffler joint clamp. 4. Remove muffler mounting bolt. 5. Install TBR slip-on tube to TBR muffler using the supplied socket head cap screws, lockwashers and X-Ring provided. Leave loose for now. 6. Slide rubber lined muffler clamp over TBR muffler. 7. Install TBR muffler assembly to motorcycle using the OEM hardware. Leave loose for now. 8. Align muffler and tighten muffler joint clamp. 9. Tighten X-Ring bolts in a cross pattern. 10. Tighten muffler mounting strap. 11. Remove clip-nuts from OEM muffler assembly and install on TBR slip-tube. 12. Re-install OEM heat shield. 13. Double check to make sure that all hardware is tightened.Carefully double check your work to insure that all hardware is securely fastened. If you are using bags on motorcycle make sure you have adaquate clearance between muffler and bags to keep from causing damage, this is not covered under warranty. 14. Before you run the bike, clean off all fingerprints and dirt, as any oily residue will etch the metal and become somewhat permanent when the system gets hot. Also, remove any protective plastic from the name badges on the muffler canister(s) or the muffler clamp(s). Run the bike and enjoy. It is normal for some white smoke to appear the first time you start the bike. This is packing/ manufacturing oil from inside the pipe burning off. 1. Make sure the bike is completely cool before starting the installation. Make sure the bike is secure on the side- stand or ideally a rear service stand. 2. Loosen the clamp that holds the connector pipe to the headers under the bike. Remove the hardware that holds the stock muffler at the passenger footpeg bracket. Take off the muffler. 3. Re-using the stock Triumph clamp install the new S- bend. Leave loose for now. 4. Place a bead of the hi-temp sealant on the outside edge of the s-bend. Slide the TBR canister onto the end of the S-bend pipe. Wipe off the excess sealant that will squeeze out. 5. Carefully slide the muffler clamp over the muffler. ( Note: The stainless steel canister clamp and the name badge on the canister come from the factory with a clear plastic protective film. Please remove this film before operation.) You may need to twist and turn the S-bend a little to get it in the right place. Place the spacer between the stock footpeg bracket and the tabs of the clamp. Locate both tabs of the canister clamp on the outside of the spacer. Use the hardware provided along with the stock nut to secure it. Leave loose for now. 6. Make sure everything is aligned and tighten all hardware. Affix the two connector springs to the muffler. 7. Be sure to allow the sealant to dry per the manufacture’s instructions before starting the bike . Before you run the bike, clean off all fingerprints and dirt, as any oily residue will etch the metal and become somewhat permanent when the system gets hot. Run the bike and enjoy. Muffler – titanium outer sleeve: use a soft cloth sprayed with a multi-purpose spray lubricant (WD-40 or equivalent). b. Carbon-fiber outlet cap: use a soft dry cloth. c. Stainless steel link pipe: use a soft cloth sprayed with a contact cleaner, then wipe with a soft dry cloth Cleaning will prevent spots from burning onto the surface. Do not use aggressive chemical cleaners, because they can damage the sticker.
