REMOVAL When servicing the fuel system, do not smoke or allow open flame or sparks in the vicinity. Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explosive, which could result in death or serious injury. (00330a) 1. Remove maxi-fuse. Refer to MAXI-FUSE INSTALLATION in Service Manual. 2. Remove existing air cleaner assembly. Discard filter element, backplate, and air cleaner cover insert but save remaining parts. Refer to AIR CLEANER REMOVAL in Service Manual. 3. Remove existing exhaust system. Discard mufflers but save remaining parts for kit installation. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL in Service Manual. 4. Remove engine from chassis following the instructions in the Service Manual. 5. Remove induction module. Refer to appropriate FUEL INJECTION section in Service Manual. 6. See Figure 1. Remove sealing washer (2) and O-ring (3) from fuel supply tube. Remove second O-ring (3) from fuel rail bore. Discard sealing washer and O-rings. 9. See Figure 3. Pull fuel injectors (1) with attached fuel rail from induction module. To overcome the resistance of the bottom O-ring (2) on both fuel injectors, gently rock assembly back and forth while pulling. 10. Remove spring clips (3) from fuel injectors. Pull fuel injectors from fuel rail. To overcome the resistance of the top O-ring (4) on both fuel injectors, gently rock assembly back and forth while pulling. 11. O-ring, top Figure 3. Fuel Injector Assembly INSTALLATION Inspect Cam Clearance A clearance problem between the new cam lobe and crankcase housing may exist on certain older model engines. Failure to maintain proper clearance could result in severe engine damage. (00391b) 1. See Figure 4. Prior to starting assembly procedures, insert new cams from kit into inner needle bearings (1) located in the right side crankcase and check for a minimum of 0.030 in. clearance between highest lift point of cam lobes and crankcase housing (2) with feeler gauges. NOTE If inadequate clearance is detected, crankcase housing must be machined to provide 1.060 in. Radius clearance from center of each cam bearing bore. After machining, recheck for minimum of 0.030 in. clearance

Honda VTX 1800 EZ-Steer Instruction Installation of the Champion EZ-Steer system is similar to the installation of the OEM triple clamps of your Honda VTX 1800 Motorcycle. We strongly recommend that you use your OEM service manual and follow the prescribed disassembly, installation and torque specifications (except where noted below) for the upper and lower clamp assembly. Recommended Procedures • Disconnect all wiring to headlight and remove headlight, windscreen (if so equipped) and brackets from motorcycle. • Remove handle bars from top clamp. • Remove brake caliper and brackets; disconnect all mounting points on brake lines. Secure calipers to frame being careful not to damage brake lines. • The wheel and fork tube assembly can be removed as one complete unit. • Remove steering lock fromOEM bottom clamp and install on Champion’s bottom clamp. • Replacing the upper OEM bearing and race with the Champion supplied bearing and race, install Champion’s lower triple clamp to motorcycle reusing original hardware as removed. Torque bearing lock nut to 35 lb. ft.. • Install covers to bottom forks if supplied with OEM motorcycle. • Install Champion upper clamp with OEM washer and dome nut. Leave loose. • Slide forks up and into the upper clamp until top of forks are flush with top surface of clamp. • Torque dome nut to 75 lb. ft.. • Ensure that fork tube extensions are flush with top of upper clamp. Torque lower 8mm bolts to 20 lb.ft. and upper 10 mm clamp bolts to 30 lb. ft.. • Install handle bars to upper clamp using OEM nut and flat washers. • Reinstall brake line holders to the lower triple clamp. • Reinstall all other OEM parts as removed. • Bleed brakes. • OEM windshield # 08R80-MCH-100 can be used on this kit

Apply lubricant to o-rings and extensions prior to installing to fork tubes. Reinstall OEM caps and o-rings. • Remove steering lock from OEM bottom clamp and install on Champion’s bottom clamp. • Replacing the upper OEM bearing and race with the Champion supplied bearing and race, install Champion’s lower triple clamp to motorcycle reusing original hardware as removed. Torque bearing lock nut to 35 lb. ft. • Install fork tube covers to bottom clamp if supplied with OEM motorcycle. • Remove OEM nylon tube cover sliders from lower fork legs and replace with supplied sliders, if required for lower chrome covers on C models. See figure on the right. • Install Champion upper clamp with OEM washer and dome nut. Leave loose. • Slide forks up and into the upper clamp until top of extension is flush with top surface of clamp. • Torque dome nut to 75 lb. ft. • Ensure that fork tube extensions are flush with top of upper clamp. Torque upper 8mm bolts to 20 lb. ft and lower 10 mm clamp bolts to 30 lb. ft. • Install handle bars to upper clamp using OEM nut and flat washers. • Reinstall brake line holders to the lower triple clamp. • Reinstall all other OEM parts as removed. • Bleed brakes.

1. Make sure the bike is completely cool before starting the installation. Make sure the bike is secure on a centerstand or ideally a service lift. 2. Remove muffler joint springs, set aside to re-use later. 3. Remove muffler mounting bolt and decorative washer, set aside to re-use washer later. 4. Attach TBR slip tube to TBR muffler using the 2 piece X-Rings and 6x14mm socket head cap screws with lock washer that are provided. Leave loose enough to make some adjustments on the motorcycle. 5. Attach muffler assembly to motorcycle using the OEM springs and supllied muffler clamp. Use the supplied 8x20mm socket head cap screw and OEM washer to secure muffler clamp. *a small amount of high temp silicone on slip joint may be used. 6. Align muffler and tighten the 4 X-Ring bolts. 7. Double check your work to ensure everything is tight and properly installed. 8. Before you run the bike, clean off all fingerprints and dirt, as any oily residue will etch the metal and become somewhat permanent when the system gets hot. Run the bike and enjoy. It is normal for some white smoke to appear the first time you start the bike. This is packing/ manufacturing oil from inside the pipe burning off. Check for gaps or leaks. If you find a leak, a little high temperature silicon sealant should fix it. - Install barrel clamps to both slip-on tubes. – Install mufflers and attach using the 8mm bolts and 8mm split lock washers provided. – Align mufflers and tighten the 6x14mm V.A.L.E.™ hardware when the slip-on tube clearance and the muffler alignment is correct. (It may be easier to tighten one bolt first, then remove the slip-on tube assembly to tighten all of the rest of the hardware. – Tighten barrel clamps. Double check all your work to make sure the mufflers are aligned and all hardware is tightened.
