This kit is designed for installation on 1986 and later FLST®, FLSTC®, FLSTN®and 1991 and later Touring models. (Except 2004 and later FLHRS®and FLTR®) NOTE: Will not fit when equipped with Flat Lens Turn Signal Module (Part Number 91699-99A). Installation 1. Disconnect turn signal wires. For 1999 and later models: See Figure 1. Remove taillight cover and disconnect turn signal wires at connectors shown in illustration. For 1998 and earlier models: Disconnect turn signal wires at connectors located in directional bar. On 1994 and later models there are two wires for each turn signal lamp. Earlier models have only 1 wire per lamp. 2. Remove existing directional bar from motorcycle and save hardware for re-installation. If the turn signal connector is too large to be removed from the directional bar, remove the wires from the connector as follows: Bend back the connector latches on the sides of the connector slightly to free the secondary lock. Rotate the secondary lock outward on hinge to access terminals in chambers of connector housing. With a paper clip sharpened to a chisel point, insert the paper clip into the connector housing cavity until it stops. Pivot the end of the paper clip and gently tug on the wire to pull the terminal from the cavity. Do not tug on the wire until the tang that holds the terminal in the cavity is released. Take your time, a few tries may be required before you develop a feel for releasing the terminal from the connector. 3. Remove screws that mount turn signals lamps to existing directional bar. Remove lamps and turn signal wires (with their attached connector halves) from existing bar. 4. Position directional bar in mounting location at rear fender and secure bar to motorcycle using original hardware removed in step 2. Route turn signal wires from motorcycle back into directional bar, or up to taillamp (if 1999 and later model) and mate connectors. If the wires were removed from the connector in step 2, insert the terminal ends of the wires into the connector until they snap in place, then mate connector halves.

INSTALLATION 1. See Figure 2. Following directions supplied with saddlebags to relocate rear turn signals, but also use the following exceptions to install the parts contained in this kit: •Use turn signal studs (4) in place of hex bolts supplied with saddlebags. The longer studs are required to accommodate the rear docking points. •On each side, insert relocation pad plate (3), saddlebag mount spacer (12), rear docking point (2), and docking point spacer (11) between relocation pad (supplied with saddlebags), and fender support cover as shown. •Use 4-inch long cap screw (5) in place of hex bolts supplied with saddlebags. 1. Place the motorcycle on a level and secure area. Disconnect the battery. 2. Refer to the appropriate factory service manual and remove the OEM speedometer and indicator lights. The indicator lights usually unplug either in the rear of the headlight or under the gas tank area. 3. Mount the new speedometer in the desired location. 4. Locate the OEM wire for the high beam indicator light. Connect it with the blue wire from the wire harness on the speedometer. Connect the blue/black wire from the speedometer to ground. 5. Locate the OEM wire for the gauge illumination (back) lighting. Connect this wire to the orange wire on the speedometer. Connect the black wire on the speedometer to ground. 6. Locate the OEM wires for the turn signals. Usually they are brown and violet wires. NOTE: You will notice only one bulb for the turn signals in the gauge and two wires from the bike to the harness. If you connect both of these wires directly to the yellow wire on the speedometer, this will allow feedback and cause all the signals to flash at once. To prevent this, you will need to add a diode between each OEM turn signal wire and the yellow wire coming from the speedometer. We recommend that you utilize a Dyna tach adapter, Part #D-101, available separately. This tach adapter includes the diodes necessary to allow the turn signal indicator light to operate correctly. Follow the instructions for the tach adapter, substituting the wires from the original wire harness found in step 6 for the two ignition terminals shown in the wire schematic. Hook the white wire on the tach adapter to the yellow wire for the turn signal indicator on the speedometer. If you use the D-101 adapter, skip steps 7-9 and go directly to step 10. 7. Take one of the diodes, making sure to observe the correct polarity, and attach it to the brown turn signal wire on the bike. 8. Take the remaining diode, again making sure to observe the correct polarity, and attach it to the violet turn signal wire on the bike

PROCEDURE STEP 1*Remove the stock turn signal fixtures and cut the wires in a convenient and inconspicuous splice location. STEP 2**Place the split lock and flat washers on to the hollow bolts as shown in PIC. 1. Run the power leads through the hollow bolts and assemble the Silver Bullets to their mounts. See PIC. 2. STEP 3*Install the new Silver Bullet assemblies to the Mount Bar on the motorcycle. The stock 10-24 x 1/2″ socket head screws are to be re-used. PROCEDURE fOR AMBER DUAL CIRCUIT (fRONT WIRING) LED SILVER BULLET WIRE COLOR CODING IS AS fOLLOWS: Black — Ground Blue — Running Lights (power) Violet — Turn Signal (power) STEP 1 Turn key on. Test OEM stock front turn signal wiring with test light. STEP 2 Locate and mark the running light (power) wire. STEP 3 Individually activate the turn signals and mark the side-appropriate wires. STEP 4 Use the color code above to solder/connect the corresponding Silver Bullet wires to your Join like colored wires on the Silver Bullets and the bike’s turn signal harnesses. Insulate your connections. Route the wires safely out of harms way and tie the wires in place with nylon cable ties. 1995-EARLIER MODELS With a test light, probe the two black wires leading to each of the stock front turn signals. On each side, the wire that has power only when the turn signal button is depressed is the turn signal positive wire. The wire that is “hot” constantly when the key is on is the running light wire. Connect the violet wire from the Silver Bullet to the bikes turn signal wire, and the blue Silver Bullet wire to the bikes running light wire. Connect the black wire from the Silver Bullet to a known good chassis ground (bare metal). Insulate your connections. Route the wires neatly out of harms way and secure them with nylon cable ties. When replacing stock incandescent turn signals with LED lights, it may be necessary to add a load equalizer to make the turn signals flash properly. NOTE: When using Amber Dual Circuit Silver Bullets in rear applications, blue running lights (power) wire will not be used. To avoid corrosion, tape off bare wire. Test the lights for run and flash functions. If they light, but do not flash in the turn mode, add the load equalizer. The load equalizer has one black and two violet wires. The violet wires are not side specific. NOTE: LED Turn signals require the use of one Load Equalizer PER PAIR OF LED TURN SIGNALS to achieve the proper flash function. It is perfectly normal for the equalizer to get warm (about 140 degrees) during turn signal operation.

1. Remove the license plate. Remove the license plate mounting bracket from the fender. Remove the two screws from the tail light lens and pull the light outward, unplug the wire connector and set aside. Unplug the turn signal wire connectors from the tail light base and push them out thru the hole in the fender. Looking up underneath the rear fender remove the wires from the clips that secure them to the bottom side of the fender. Cut the wires 2″ from the plugs as shown in photo 1. 2. Unscrew the signal housings from their mounting stems while rotating the wires on the inside of the fender so as not to twist them off while unscrewing the signal from the stem. Remove the signals pushing the wires thru from the inside while pulling the signal outward. Remove the nuts from the backside of the fender that secure the stems and remove the stems. 3. Assemble the license/turn signal bracket, turn signals. Place the smaller reinforcing bracket inside the license plate bracket. Locate the two supplied 5/16″ X 1″ bolts with holes drilled thru the center and the two supplied 5/16″ long spacers. Place the bolts thru the brackets from the inside, threads facing outward followed by the spacers. Thread the wires of the signals thru the bolts and thread the bolts into the signals and snug the bolts. 4. Mounting the LED lights a. Locate the supplied LED tail/brake lights. NOTE: this license plate holder is designed for the new U.S. standardized 7″ wide license plate. If you have an old style wider plate call us at the phone number below and we will send you a separate set of chrome brackets to work with your larger plate at no charge. b. Install the lights as shown in photos 2 & 3. Thread the wires of the LED lights thru the lower holes in the license bracket, peel the adhesive backing and press them firmly in place. Cut the wires off at about 18″ long. c. Install the license plate bracket with signals and LED lights onto the rear fender as shown in photos 2 & 3. Place the two supplied 1/4″ X 1″ flat head screws thru the license plate mounting block. Notice that the thicker half of the mounting block goes toward the top of the fender. d. Next route all the wires from the right turn signal and LED into the slot or notch on the backside of the mounting block followed by the rubber mounting gasket. Install the two nuts from the underside of the fender (Removed from the original license bracket.) onto the two flat head screws and snug them being sure the wires are all in the slot of the mounting block. Run all of the signal and LED wires thru the hole in the fender to the left of the mounting block. e. Install the license plate assembly onto the mounting block using the two supplied 1/4″ X 1/2″ flat head screws. Check the slack from all the wires and again be sure the wires are not pinched between the mounting block and the fender. Tighten all four flat head screws securely. Align the turn signals and tighten their mounting bolts securely.

1. Remove the license plate. Remove the license plate holder assembly from the rear fender (three 8mm Allen bolts 5mm wrench). Remove the five 4mm Allen screws underneath the rear fender which secure the taillight/turn signal assembly to the rear fender (3mm wrench). As shown in photo #2, pull the taillight assembly out away from the fender, turn it over, place a towel or rag between the light and fender and allow it to rest on the fender. 2. Locate the supplied triangular license plate mounting block, two 8 x 20mm Allen screws with holes driiled thru and three rubber washers. Place the two Allen screws thru the upper holes in the block and the rubber washers over the screws on the backside of the block. Start the screws into the upper holes on the fender. Use one of the three screws removed earlier from the original mount in the remaining lower hole of the new block sliding the remaining rubber washer between the block and fender. Tighten all three Allen screws secure enough to compress the rubber washers (4-6 ft lbs.). 3. Locate the supplied license plate mounting plate and LED lights. Cut off the excess red and black wires at the end of the black loom or tube. Referring to photo (1) thread the wires of the LED lights thru the small holes in the mounting plate, peel the cover from the adhesive backing on the lights and press them firmly into place as shown. 4. Locate the three supplied ¼” x ½” flat head Allen screws. Hold the plate up to the mounting block installed earlier with the wires at the bottom of the plate. Thread the wires from the LED lights thru the holes in the upper bolts of the block. Install the plate onto the block using the three flat head screws being sure to keep the exposed wire behind he plate as short as possible and fitting into the slot or cut out at the edge of the block. Snug the screws and again check to see tat the wires are in the slot or cut out in the block and do not become pinched as the screws are tightened. Tighten the screws securely. 5. Where the wires from the taillight go thru the fender there is a grommet, pull this grommet out from the fender. Thread the wires from the LED lights thru the grommet with the other wires. Replace the grommet into the fender and remove any slack from the wires under the fender. Cut the LED wires off at 6″ past the grommet. 6. Referring to photo (2) remove 2″ of the black tubing exposing the red and black wires on the LEDs. Locate the supplied brake/tail light dual function element (a red wire at one end with a red and orange wire at the other) and wire connectors. Cut all three wires on the dual element to 3″ long. Strip the end of the single red wire on the element and both of the red wires from the LEDs then connect them using one of the blue butt connectors. Connect the two black wires from the LEDs to any one of the black wires on the tail light or signals using one of the supplied splice connectors (place both black wires into one of the holes on the connector). Using the remaining splice connectors attach the red wire from the dual element to the yellow wire on the tail light and the orange wire to the blue wire on the tail light. Turn on the ignition and check that the LEDs are working both as tail and brake lights when the brakes are applied.

1. Remove the front turn signals as follows. The turn signal wire plugs are located inside the handlebar switch housings. Remove the two Phillips screws located on the forward facing side of the switch housing, remove the covers, unplug the turn signals and reassemble the switch housings. Unbolt the signals from their black mounting brackets, remove the brackets from the bottom side of the switch housings, reinstall the nuts and tighten securely. 2. Disassemble the two halves of the turn signal mounting clamps supplied, place the M6 X 25mm button head screws thru the hole in the side of the clamp from the inside, place the spacers supplied over the screw threads. Screw the clamps and spacers onto the turn signals. Hold the signal/clamp assemblies up to the front fork, position the signals so that the housing/lens seam is vertical and straight, carefully remove the assemblies from the forks and tighten the screws securely. Install the signal/clamps onto the forks, set to the desired height and angle and tighten the clamp screws securely. 3. Using a sharp knife slit the black wire loom from the turn signal plug back 7″. Pull the turn signal wires and plugs out from the loom. Fold the wires along the loom going down towards the headlight. Leave 2-3″ of the wire next to the plug exposed and neatly tape the rest of the wire to the loom and the loom closed back up to the handlebar switch. 4. Connect the signal wires to the plugs from the wire loom. Using the cable ties supplied tie up any loose or unconcealed wire and the plugs.

1. Remove the windscreen/headlamp assembly by removing the two (2) 4mm allen screws located on the sides of the windscreen and the two plastic rivets at the top rear (push the center pin inward º” and then pull the rivet out). Pull the windscreen/headlamp forward to gain access to the rear, unplug the headlamp and set aside. 2. Locate the turn signal wire connections and unplug them from the wire harness. On the black connectors lift the tab up to unlock the connector and on the white ones use a small screwdriver inserted into one of the two longer slots and lift the center portion up while pulling the connector apart. Remove the screws which attach the turn signals to the chrome signal mounts located on the bottom of the mounts. Pull the turn signals out from the mounts and set aside. Looking thru the hole in the mount that the turn signals were in you will see a 4mm allen screw on each side, remove these. Remove remaining two (2) 6mm allen screws located on the bottom of the steering head that attach the mounts, remove and set aside. 3. Lay out the new turn signal mounting bar (see photo). Install the signals onto the bar as shown routing the wires thru the bar and out thru the slot in the center. Install the two (2) 6 x 8mm screws supplied and tighten securely. 4. Install the bar/signal assembly onto the steering head using the two (2) 6mm allen screws removed earlier (the brake hose clip should be on the bottom below the signal mount) and tighten securely. 5. Reconnect the turn signal wires (the pale blue/green wire goes to the right signal). Turn the ignition on and test the functions of the signals and running lights. Re-install the windscreen/headlamp assembly being sure to first plug in the headlamp

The new R 1200 RT-P features a completely new LED emergency lighting concept developed by BMW and Code 3 PSE. The new system combines all currently desired emergency lighting into optimally focused compact LED light modules. These modules accommodate an additional 45 degree front LED module that blankets the front quadrants in emergency light. Together with an integrated wiring harness and programmable flash control module, the new system can provide any current flashing sequence / switching combination through settings on the programmable flasher. Example: If the motor will be used in California, program the flasher for steady-burn left front LED light, with no change in the LED light or the wiring. If the motor is sold or operated in a different venue later, change the program flasher for 49 state operation. The rear light module combines rear and side facing LED emergency lights, together with rear-facing brake/tail LED and side turn signal LED lights. Additional rear facing LED emergency lights can be installed and powered in conjunction with the rear facing lights, or controlled by photo- eye to disable the lights during the dark to reduce glare at night / low light situations. The programmable flasher can provide 12 flash patterns, with wiring splitting the motor between left and right side for alternating flash patterns. Light sequencing begins with rear, programmable rear and front side lights, as well as front and 45 degree front lights. A rear cancel switch allows riders to disable the rear lights while retaining the side and front lights – usually used for protective service details. The programmable flasher also provides for a primary and secondary flash pattern, so during code 3 operation, the emergency lights will display the primary pattern until the siren is activated, at which time the flasher changes to the alternative pattern for 7 seconds after each siren tone change. This feature known as InterClear provides a visual and audible alert to those nearby

• Check before Riding • Make sure the brakes work properly and adjust if necessary. • Check all nuts and bolts for tightness. • Make sure that the gas tank is full. • Check tire pressure. • Check all gauges. • Check and make sure that all of the lights are working properly, headlight, taillight, turn signal etc. • Check the engine oil. STARTING, RIDING, STOPPING AND PARKING Before starting, put the kickstand up. • Practice in an empty area away from people and vehicles. • Always remember to obey your local and state laws and regulations. • Be sure your bike has fuel and oil. • Be sure the bike is in neutral. • Apply the rear brake. • Turn the key on. • Press the electric start button. • After engine warms up, push the choke 1/4 in then 1/2 in and in 1 minute completely off. • If the engine is warm it should start without choking. • For a cold engine, let the engine idle for 1-3 minutes before driving, then begin to turn the choke off. • Never exceed 4 seconds when engaging the starter. • Release the button immediately after the engine starts. • Do not apply the key while the engine is running, it can cause damage to the starter. • Sit on the bike keeping one foot on the ground for stability, release the clutch by pulling in the lever, shift bike into first gear by using the foot shifter. • Apply the throttle gradually as you release the clutch lever slowly until the clutch engages. • To shift into the next gear release the throttle pull the clutch lever in and shift into the next gear, after you shift, gradually apply the throttle and slowly release the clutch. • Use this sequence when shifting to all gears. • Only put your feet on the ground when coming to a stop. • When coming to a stop decrease your speed by releasing the throttle and applying the brakes and the clutch, if the tire skids release the brake and reapply. • Parking: Put your kick stand down.
