INSTALLATION Removing Outer Fairing 1. Standing at the front of the vehicle, use a T-27 TORX® drive head to remove the three outer fairing screws (with flat washers) just below the windshield. 2. Moving to the inner fairing side, use a T-27 TORX drive head to remove the two fairing screws just above the wind deflectors on the left and right side. 3. Turn the handlebar to the right and remove the outer fairing screw (reach in below the fairing cap). Turn the handlebar to the left and remove the fairing screw on the opposite side. 4. Tilting the outer fairing toward the front, squeeze the two external tabs to remove the wire connector at the back of the headlamp assembly. 5. Lift the fairing (with headlamp assembly) off the motor- cycle. NOTE Since the outer fairing screws hold the windshield in place, the windshield may fall to the floor if not removed. 6. Remove the Windshield. Installing Mirrors 1. See Figure 1. Place template on inside of fairing as shown to locate mounting holes for mirror. 2. Begin by drilling a 1/8 inch pilot hole at each location marked on the template. For the center hole (2) where the 3/8 inch threaded stud passes through the fairing use a 13/32 inch diameter twist drill to drill the hole to its final size. For the alignment hole (1), use a 7/32 inch diameter twist drill to drill the hole to the final size. 2 1 is 02115 1.7/32 inch hole location 2.13/32 inch hole location Figure 1. Positioning Template 1 is06315 1. Auxiliary mirror Figure 2. Orientation of Auxiliary Mirror NOTE The flange nut is a self locking nut and must not be tightened more than 30 in-lbs (3.4 Nm). 3. See Figure 3. Place mirror (2) in position and install backing plate (4) with the raised post (B) (with the L and R marking) toward the nut surface. Install the flange nut (6) and tighten nut to 20-30 in-lbs (2.3-3.4 Nm). 4. See Figure 2. Position the mirror so the round auxiliary mirror is in the upper inside corner position. 5. Installation For installation on rear fender with marker light: 1. Cut out Rear Fender Template. 2. Use a paper punch to punch out holes marked A and C . Holes A are the locations of the marker light screws, and hole C is the location of the marker light wiring. Cut along centerline of template from top down to hole C . 3. Remove light lens by carefully pressing down on top center of light to disengage tab. 4. Remove the two screws, washers, and nuts that hold the marker light assembly in place and carefully pull the light assembly away from the fender. Disconnect the wire connector and remove the light assembly. 5. Slip template over marker light wires, align holes marked A with marker light holes, and align lower edge of template with lower edge of fender. Tape template in place. 6. Prick punch holes marked B at indicated centers on template. 7. Carefully, and as accurately as possible, drill holes marked B in two steps. First drill holes with a 1/16″ drill, then finish holes with a 7/32″ drill. 8. See Service Parts illustration. Place the mud flap and reinforcement inside fender and secure outer holes with buttonhead screws (3), washers (6), and locknuts (7) contained in kit. The mud flap is split to fit around light assembly wires. 9. Using the longer panhead screws provided in the kit, install fender tip light and check that light is operational. For installation on rear fender without marker light: 1. Using a high quality masking tape, mask the lower three inches of the middle of the fender for the purpose of drawing a centerline on the fender. 2. Using a machinist’s square, locate the centerline of the fender by measuring in from each side of the fender flats. Mark the centerline on the masking tape. 3. Cut out Rear Fender Template. 4. Align centerline of template with centerline drawn on fender. Align lower edge of template with lower edge of fender. Tape template in place. 5. Prick punch holes marked B and C at indicated centers on template. 6. Carefully, and as accurately as possible, drill holes marked B and C in two steps. First drill holes with a 1/16″ drill, then finish holes with a 7/32″ drill. 7. See Service Parts illustration. Place the mud flap and reinforcement inside fender and secure with buttonhead screws (3), washers (5 and 6), and locknuts (7) contained in kit. For installation on front fender (FLSTS only): 1. Using a high quality masking tape, mask the lower three inches of the middle of the fender for the purpose of drawing a centerline on the fender. 2. Using a machinist’s square, locate the centerline of the fender by measuring in from each side of the fender flats. Mark the centerline on the masking tape. 3. Cut out Front Fender Template. 4. Align centerline of template with centerline drawn on fender. Align lower edge of template with lower edge of fender. Tape template in place. 5. Prick punch holes at indicated centers on template. 6. Carefully, and as accurately as possible, drill holes marked in two steps. First drill holes with a 1/16″ drill, then finish holes with a 7/32″ drill. 7. See Service Parts illustration. 1. Using the nuts supplied, bolt the lighting system to the rack (on some earlier production models the holes may be off slightly and require that you drill the holes in the rack larger for alignment). 2. Using a side cutting pliers, trim away the corner of the metal grating and route the wire loom thru and out the bottom of the rack as shown. Route the loom along the bottom of the rack to where the plug on the motorcycle is or will be and secure it to the rack using the cable ties supplied. 3. Cut the wires and loom to the desired length to connect to the plug on the motorcycle. Connect the wires from the loom to your mating connector (not supplied) using the wire color code shown below. If you do not have a plug on the motorcycle you will need to purchase a mating male and female five pin or wire connector set. You may also use a six pin connector set and leave one pin unused as these are more readily available. RIVCO offers a six wire molded connector set with 60″ of wire #TWC002 or a waterproof six pin connector set with dust cap #TWC00
