Remove the 5/ 16 ” bolt from the mounting stem on the Signal® mirror. While seated on the motorcycle, position the Signal® mirror on the handle bar. Secure the Signal® mirror to the handle bar using the 5/ 16 ” bolt. NOTE: Use of oil is suggested if bolts do not thread easily into stem base. Make sure the bolt is tight! Guide the Signal® mirror wire harness into the cowling by going along side the existing factory wire harness. 4 Remove any slack in the wire harness. Secure the wire harness to the handle bar using a supplied tie wrap. 5 6 Adjust the position of the Signal® mirror and tighten the ball retention screws. Start on either the left or right side mirror. These instructions start with the right side mirror. Remove the factory mirror. NOTE: For motorcycles with OEM forward facing indicators, please use the instructions on the last page in lieu of step 2.

Position the motorcycle on a firm, level surface, in an area where there is enough room to safely lay it on its left side. 2. Remove the left side mirror by following the nstructions on page 2-7 of the Service Manual. 3. Remove the left engine side cover by following the nstructions on page 2-5 of the Service Manual. 4. Remove the antenna whip(s). 5. Remove the coolant reserve tank by fol- lowing the instructions on page 6-7 of the Service Manual. 6. Place thick, non-abrasive padding (such as furniture blankets) on the ground to protect the motorcycle when you lay it on its side. 7. Lock the handlebars to the RIGHT, using the ignition key. 8. Using two people, gently lay the motor- cycle down on its LEFT side on the pad- ding. The motorcycle will first rest on the wheels and left engine and saddlebag guards. Continue to lean the motorcycle to the left until it rests on the left handlebar end and left engine and saddlebag guards. The motorcycle should be laying on the padding, with its engine guard, saddlebag guard, and handlebar end resting on the padding – no painted parts should be con- tacting the padding. 9. Clean the frame crossmember with acetone. 10. Draw a line on each side of the grinding template (S0512) 30 mm from the for- ward edge, stopping  between the two arrows, as illustrated below. 11. Put this template on the frame and, using a fine-tipped felt marker (such as a Sharpie), draw a 30 mm line on both crossmember welds. Start this line at the forward edge of the grinding template and stop between the two arrows as shown in the illustration on the next page.Now remove the grinding template

These kits are designed to fit all 1982 and later Harley- Davidson motorcycles. Kit Contents See Figure 1 and Table 1. INSTALLATION 1. Remove and discard the existing mirror. Discard any lockwashers and acorn nuts used to mount the original mirror. 2. For motorcycles with turn signals mounted to the underside of the hand lever housings except 2004 and later XL models: See Figure 1. Secure the left side mirror using only the flat washer (3) and the acorn nut (5) from the kit. 3. Secure the right side mirror with the flat washer (3) and acorn nut (5) from the kit and the turn signal retainer only. Do not use washer (4) on either side. For 2004 and later XL models use only the lockwasher (4), and acorn nut (5) on each side. 4. For motorcycles with turn signals mounted away from the hand lever housings: Insert the mirror studs into the holes in the hand lever housings, and secure the mirrors with the flat washers (3), lockwashers (4) and acorn nuts (5) from the kit. 5. Adjust the mirrors for proper field of vision and tighten the acorn nut to 12 ft-lbs (16 Nm). Check mirror adjustment and reposition if necessary

Start on either the left or right side mirror. These instructions start with the right side mirror. Pull back the rubber boot covering the mirror mount. 1 2 3 Remove the accessory compartment cover. Remove the four screws on all sides of the accessory compartment. Remove the accessory compartment from the motorcycle fairing and set it aside. 4 The motorcycle’s electrical wiring for turn indicators is located forward of the accessory compartment cavity and behind the front amber turn indicator light. Disconnect the wire connected to the turn indicator light. 5 There are three screws holding the mirror housing to the mirror mount. Remove the three screws. Set the mirror housing aside.
Mirror Replacement – 2 – Remove the three screws holding the hinge to the mirror housing. Remove the hinge and remove the rubber boot surrounding the mirror housing. 1 Match the base of the hinge up to the new Signal® mirror housing. Mark the place on the hinge where the Signal® mirror wire will go through. Drill a ¼” hole in the hinge. 2 Position the rubber boot over the Signal® mirror housing. 3 Guide the Signal® mirror wire harness through the drilled hole in the hinge. Mount the hinge on the Signal® mirror housing using the original three screws.

1. Remove left engine side cover. 2. Unplug side stand sensor harness and remove side stand. 3. Cut plug from side stand wiring, leaving approximately 1 ½” of wire on plug. Connect green wires with supplied crimp to bridge side-stand sensor. Figure 1 4. Install modified plug to electrical harness of vehicle. Figure 1 5. Replace engine side cover. 6. Remove center inner fairing panel. 7. Remove lower setting bolts (not to be re-used) from front lower fairing. It is not necessary to completely remove this panel. 8. Lift the side mirror boots and disconnect the running / turn signal wiring. Figure 2 9. With the single plug end first, feed the supplied wire harness into the fairing just below the mirrors. Note: right side wire harness is blue, left is orange. 10. Continue working the supplied harness through the fairing until the single plug end is near the lower part of the lower fairing light nacelles. 11. Connect the supplied wire harness to the vehicles harness at the mirrors and replace mirror boots and center inner fairing panel. Figure 3 12. Remove the center stand and install the supplied cross brace using the OEM bolts and spacer. Install supplied 13 spacers / washers between bracket and OEM spacer as shown. Figure 4

1. Start on either the left or right side mirror. These instructions start with the right side mirror. Remove the factory mirror by inserting the pry bar as shown. Slowly twist the pry bar to disengage the mirror. NOTE: Insert the pry bar as close to the mirror mount as possible before prying out the OE mirror. Not doing so may cause the crossbar on the motor actuator to break. 2. Grab the mirror housing as shown and slowly push down to disengage housing from motorcycle. 3. Once you have the mirror housing removed, route the Signal® mirror wire harness through the hole in the housing. Note: Leave about 6″ of slack, on the wire, for adjustment later on. 4. Use a screwdriver and remove the screw from the front turn indicator lens. 5. Disengage the lens and remove the light bulb as shown. 6. Route the Signal® mirror wire harness through the top opening in (A) and out the bottom opening in (B).

1. These instructions start with the right side mirror. Grab the mirror housing as shown and slowly push down to disengage housing from motorcycle. 2. Once you have the mirror housing removed partially, twist and remove the light bulb from mirror housing. Remove mirror housing and set it on a cloth covered surface. 3. Remove the factory mirror by inserting a slotted screwdriver against each mirror mount snaps. Slowly twist and pry each snap until it releases from motor actuator. Repeat process until factory mirror disengages. NOTE: Insert the slotted screwdriver as close to each of the snaps as possible before prying out the OE mirror. Not doing so may cause the crossbar on the motor actuator to break. Connect the two mating connectors from the adapter Signal® mirror wire harness and the new Signal® mirror wire harness. Cut a slot in the foam disc to accommodate the anti-vibration prongs on the motor adapter. Place the foam disc onto the center of the Signal® mirror motor interface. Connect the Signal® mirror mating connector to the Signal® mirror wire harness. 5. Remove Cap Sheet from two-sided adhesive disc on back of Signal ® mirror. Align the anti-rotation prongs found on the top and bottom or left and right with the corresponding slots on the motor mount. Use the palm of your hand, push down on the Signal® mirror and the mirror housing until the Signal® mirror motor mount is fully engaged. Note: Push firmly on all sides of the Signal® mirror to ensure proper engagement and travel. Not doing so could result in mirror falling off. 6. Locate the light bulb and carefully disconnect the original light blue with black stripe wire [hot wire]. Connect the red wire from the Signal® mirror wire harness to the spade terminal on the light bulb. Connect the original light blue with black stripe wire to the other spade terminal located on the red wire of the Signal® mirror wire harness. Repeat the process for the original brown wire and the black wire from the Signal® mirror wire harness [ground wires]. Insert the light bulb back into the mirror housing. 7. Align the 3-pins with their corresponding snap holes and snap the mirror housing into place. 8. Insert key into the ignition and turn to the “ON” position. Activate the right hand turn indicator to verify that the new Signal® mirror is working correctly. Replace any other accessories necess
